Envantage is an energy and carbon management consultancy based in Manchester that helps organizations efficiently manage their carbon reduction. It operates across sectors in the UK, Ireland, and Europe. Envantage , based in Didsbury Manchester, was incorporated in April 2004 by experienced professionals within the energy supply industry with a vast knowledge of energy procurement, energy efficiency and energy legislation.
- #5 ENMAT (Energy Monitoring & Targeting) is a web based Energy Monitoring and Targeting system. It presents energy management data in a way that is relevant, meaningful and useful to users. The purpose of Monitoring and Targeting is to relate your energy consumption data to the appropriate energy drivers, such as weather and production, so that you get a better understanding of how energy is being used. In particular, it will identify if there are signs of avoidable waste or other opportunities to reduce consumption. Envantage offer a Monitoring and Targeting (M&T) service to enable organisations to save energy and cut costs. The use of this platform means that we can deliver a bespoke solutions to meet your needs. - #9 Energy monitoring and targeting (M&T) is an energy efficiency technique based on the standard management axiom stating that “you cannot manage what you cannot measure”. M&T techniques provide energy managers with feedback on operating practices, results of energy management projects, and guidance on the level of energy use that is expected in a certain period. Importantly, they also give early warning of unexpected excess consumption caused by malfunctions, operator error, unwanted user behaviours, maintenance errors etc.
- #10 The foundation of M&T lies in determining the normal relationships of energy consumptions to relevant driving factors (production throughputs, weather, available daylight, etc.) and the goal is to help business managers: Identify and explain excessive energy use Detect instances when consumption is unexpectedly lower than would usually have been the case Draw energy consumption trends (weekly, seasonal, operational…) Determine future energy use when planning changes in the business Diagnose specific areas of wasted energy Observe how the business reacted to changes in the past Develop performance targets for energy management programs Manage their energy consumption, rather than accept it as a fixed cost that they have no control over. The ultimate goal is to reduce energy costs through improved energy efficiency and energy management control. Other benefits generally include increased resource efficiency, improved production budgeting and reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
- #11 Throughout the numerous M&T projects implemented since the 1980s, a certain number of benefits have proved to be recurrent: Energy cost savings: generally 5% of the original energy expenses, according to The Carbon Trust. Carbon Trust has conducted a study over 1000 small businesses and has concluded that on average an organisation could save between 5% - 7%. Reduction in GHG emissions: lower energy consumption helps reduce emissions Financing: measured energy reductions help obtain grants for energy efficiency projects Improved product and service costing: sub-metering allows the division of the energy bill between the different processes of an industry, and can be calculated as a production cost Improved budgeting: M&T techniques can help forecast energy expenses in the case of changes in the business, for example Waste avoidance: helps diagnose energy waste in any process.

- #31 Users can manually enter Actual, Customer or Estimated meter readings for electricity or gas supplies. The kWh usage is then reported on with Enmat Energy dashboards, charts and graphs allowing the user to see energy usage in a similar way to an Automatic Meter Read (AMR) in ENMAT from a smart meter. ENMAT uses the same dashboard interfaces for manual meter reads as with AMR’s for simplicity. Energy related data can also be accessed through a number of ENMAT Apps including Android and IOS The ENMAT Meter Reading Entry Service is an affordable way to manage periodic meter readings and energy billing.
