INTRODUCTON:
➢AN ECOLOGICAL MANAGEMENT PLAN is a
structured strategy designed to
sustainably utilize and conserve ecosystems. It outlines goals
actions and policies to
maintain ecological balance ,biodiversity , and overall
environmental health It is an
attempt to control human impact on and interaction with the
environment in order to
preserve natural
resources.
➢An ECOLOGICAL PLAN often
incorporates
community
engagement,
scientific
research and
regulatory
frameworks to
promote
responsible resource use
and
habitat preservation. It aims
to
balance human needs
with
environmental
protection
,fostering a
harmonious
coexistence bw
communities
and ecosystems they
depend
on
.
➢MOREOVER,
environmental
management is concerned
with
man environmental
interface
,the complex boundary
where
biophysical and socio-
cultural
systems
interact.
❖ELEMENTS OF EMP;
1-Mitigation measures
2-Monitoring
3-Capacity development and
training
4-
Implementation
➢GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
1
.
2
.
To Minimize negative
impacts To Enhance
positive impacts
3.Ensuring Environmentally sustainable
planning ,construction
and operation
management
4.Reduce Problems and delays during project
implementation
5.Improve overall
project quality
➢ IMPORTANCE:
✓An EMP is crucial for sustainable
development and biodiversity
conservation .It helps balance human activities with
environmental health, ensuring the protection of ecosystems,
wildlife, and natural resources.
By identifying , assessing , and mitigating potential
environmental impacts , such as plans promote responsible
use
of LAND, WATER,AIR RESOURCES, contributing to long term
resilience and well being of both ecosystems and communities.
✓
✓Facilitates environmentally sustainable
development and
decision making process Integration of environmental issues in
planning and operations.
✓Addresses relevant ecological
management issues.
➢ CONSTRUCTION
ECOLOGICAL
MANAGEMENT PLAN:
1.Construction activities can lead to accidents and risks
to wildlife and habitats .
2.Noise, Dust, emissions, pollution , and fragmentation of land
arepotential hazards to wildlife.
3.The construction ecological plan is not just a record , it is a
live
management tool that helps to ensure developer and contractor
compliance with wildlife laws and policies And monitors supply
chain activities on wildlife.
✓ THINGS which might be included
in CEMP:
1.Who you are and where the site
is located .
2
.
3
.
4
.
your supply chain and their roles and
responsibilities.
Details of other ecological site studies such as Ecological Appraisal Report ,protected
species survey reports ,
landscape and ecology management plan and biodiversity
net gain report.
Your construction activities and
programmes
Details of how u will monitor , review , and improve
environmental performance

STAKEHOLDER INVOLVEMENT
GOAL SETTING
Preserve Endangered Species
Improving Water Quality
Enhancing Overall Biodiversity
ECOLOGICAL ZONING
Ecological

Threat Analysis
1. Potential Threats To Ecosystem:
• Invasive Species •
Pollution • Habitat
Destruction
★ Solution
: Prioritize
Threats Based
On Their
Impacts
Feasibility Of
Mitigation
Action Plan
1. Specific measures to
address identified threats:
habitat
restoration
pollution control
Community
Education programs.
Monitoring & Evaluation
Implement a Monitoring
system Regularly Assess
Effectiveness Of Plan
Make Adjustments Based
On Evaluations.
Legal & Regulatory
Framework
▪PUBLIC AWARENESS AND
EDUCATION
▪ADAPTIVE MANAGEMENT
COLLABORATION
▪AND PARTNERSHIP
DOCUMENTATION AND
▪REPORTING COMMUNITY
LIVELIHOODS ▪CLIMATE CHANGE
ADAPTATION ~BY
integrating
these elements an ecological management plan can
effectively balance
human activitieswith the conservation of biodiversity in a
selected area..
❑ECOLOGICAL
APPROACH
:
It has two methods to manage
ecology:
1. CONSERVATION:
To utilize the natural environment for social
needs but a simultaneous effort to maintain
ecological balance.
2.PRESERVATION: to save some species
or natural environment from social
utililzationin order to protect them.
➢ADVANTAGES OF EMS:
❖BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION
❖SUSTAINABLE RESOURCE
MANAGEMENT ❖ECOSYSTEM
SERVICES ❖COMMUNITY
ENGAGEMENT ❖REGULATORY
COMPLIANCE ❖ADAPTATION TO
CHANGE
❖PUBLIC AWARENESS
❖SCIENTIFIC COLLABORATRION
➢
DISADVANTAGES;
▪IMPLEMENTATION
CHALLENGES
▪COMLEXITY AND TIME
INTENSIVENESS
▪UNCERTAINITY AND DYNAMIC
NATURE
▪CONFLICTS OF
INTEREST
▪RESISTANCE TO
CHANGE
▪DATA
LIMITATION
▪LACK OF
ENFORCEMENT
▪ECONOMIC
IMPACTS
➢
CONCLUSION;
▪ Sustainable use of resources
necessarily
includes rational use of forest resources
to
provide solutions for the local people who
make their living by tapping and processing
resources’
▪ In ADDITION to protection such a plan
can provide a number of non wood forest
products that have commercial values as
food, animal feed , medicines ,etc
▪ FINAL conclusion is that in order to
achieve a more satisfactory rerlationship
bw society and its environment timely
provoisionshould be made for changes the
human activities and competition over use
of resources may bring out in order to
minimize conflicts.’
