Edward snowden

Edward Snowden was born in 1983 in the United States. He worked as a computer specialist for the CIA and NSA, and leaked thousands of classified documents about global surveillance programs to media outlets in 2013. The leaks revealed details of surveillance by the NSA, Five Eyes, and their partners. Snowden claims he leaked the documents to inform the public, and views himself as a whistleblower, though the U.S. still wants him to stand trial for treason. He currently resides in Russia to avoid arrest by the United States.

Facts  born June 21, 1983  American computer specialist, former employee of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and former contractor for the National Security Agency (NSA).  He came to international attention when he disclosed thousands of classified documents to several media outlets.  After Snowden fled to Hong Kong, China, newspapers began printing the documents that he had leaked to them.
Facts Continued…  The leaked documents revealed operational details of global surveillance programs run by the NSA and the other Five Eyes governments of the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, with the cooperation of a number of businesses and European governments.  The release of classified material was called the most significant leak in US history by Pentagon Papers leaker Daniel Ellsberg.
Facts Continued…  Snowden's "sole motive" for leaking the documents was, in his words, "to inform the public as to that which is done in their name and that which is done against them.”  Snowden has been variously called a hero, a whistleblower, a dissident, a traitor,and a patriot.
Facts Continued…  The United States still wants Snowden to return home and face criminal charges for leaking NSA documents.  He is currently staying in Russia where the U.S can not arrest him.
