Course Project Project Instructions
The Higher Ed. Course Project has been broken down into 4
parts. Each part builds to the completed Course Project. The
topic you select during Module/Week 2 should be the topic for
all parts of this assignment. Please review all 4 parts before
beginning part 1.
· Course Project: Part 1 – Journal Analysis Instructions
You will write an essay (400–600 words) in which you compare
3 current (5 years or less) scholarly journal articles with
different points of view on a challenge/problem related to
higher education. The analysis should be approached from a
leadership perspective. The journal analysis will include a title
page, a reference page, and follow current APA format. Your
analysis must thoroughly interpret and examine the articles for
perspective, validity, and significance of the findings. You
should support your discussion with relevant facts, arguments,
examples, and details from your review of article; your analysis
should be well-reasoned, indicating substantial breadth and
depth of thinking. There must be a clearly identified discussion
section in which you describe the practical application to the
broader industry of higher education at large. You must identify
relevant scriptural principles and perspectives from a biblical
worldview, including at least 1 relevant Bible verse.
Course Project: Part 1 is due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of
Module/Week 2.
· Course Project: Part 2 – Media Analysis Instructions
You will compare coverage of your selected higher education
topic in 3-4 different types of sources (newspapers, magazines,
academic journals, books, professional association websites,
videos, etc.). You should determine what perspectives are
present or absent, and assess sources for bias.
This assignment must be 400–600 words and requires citations
from 3-4 media sources. This media analysis will include a title
page, a reference page, and should be in current APA format.
Your analysis must thoroughly interpret and examine the media
information for perspective, validity, and significance of the
perspectives presented. You should support your discussion
with relevant facts, arguments, examples, and details from your
review of article; your analysis should be well-reasoned,
indicating substantial breadth and depth of thinking. Compare
and contrast media coverage of the topic in relation to the
research articles analyzed in Course Project Part 1. You must
identify relevant scriptural principles and perspectives from a
biblical worldview, including at least 1 relevant Bible verse. In
addition to submitting Part 2 of the Course Project at the end of
Module/Week 4, you must integrate your findings in Part 3-4 of
the Course Project.
Course Project: Part 2 is due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of
Module/Week 4.
· Course Project: Part 3 – Strategies for Improvement
Instructions
You will identify 3-4 improvement strategies that focus on the
challenge/problem addressed in Course Project Parts 1-2. This
assignment must be 400-600 words, follow APA guidelines, and
include a title and reference page. Your improvement strategies
should be research based and you must include at least one
scholarly source to support each improvement strategy. Discuss
any moral/ethical considerations, impact on diverse student
groups, potential impact on the campus community, etc.
Allocation of resources required to implement the strategies
should be addressed including estimated costs and funding
sources. Strategies can be applicable to an individual institution
or the broader industry of higher education at large.
Course Project: Part 3 is due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of
Module/Week 6.
· Course Project: Part 4 – PowerPoint Presentation Instructions

(1) a brief outline of the topic and why it is relevant, (2) a
description of the opportunities and challenges, (3) examples of
the current status of the problem/challenge, (4) a description of
your recommendations for improvement, (5) a conclusion
highlighting the impact (positive and/or negative) this may have
on higher education. Additionally, you must type a script in the
notes section to align with the PowerPoint for a 15-minute
presentation to a college/university constituent group.
Incorporate the sources previously used in Parts 1–3 of the
Course Project and include 15-20 slides.
