Editor's Notes

  • #7 • full-featured CMS (Content Management System) • many claim: CMF (Content Management Framework) Free open source modular framework and content management system. Written in PHP. First release in 2001. Started by Dries Buytaert. Currently on Version 6. Very community driven.
  • #8 The name Drupal, pronounced "droo-puhl," derives from the English pronunciation of the Dutch word "druppel," which means "drop." (and drop is “village” in Dutch). Started out with two college students at U of Antwerp who built a social site on their local network. Started in 1999 by Dries Buytaert (Belgium)
  • #11 If you can think of it, chances are that someone else already has and they wrote it and released it as a module. Lots of Web. 2.0 capabilities and very granular access control.
  • #36 Granular levels of customization: Limiting administration Users, roles, and permissions Demonstration of customized administrative user access
