OBJECTIVES
❑ To keep your identity, reputation, and
personal life OR that of your organisation
safe from hackers or unwanted exposure.
❑ To create a safe, respectful online space
for all users.
❑ To help users recognize and avoid online
scams that can lead to financial or data
loss.
❑ To teach responsible sharing and protect
your future.
❑ To encourage critical thinking and
responsible sharing to support a well-
informed society.
Safe social media use and basic online safety
involve practices that protect your privacy,
personal information, mental health, and digital
security when using the internet or social media
platforms.
Digital Security
Digital security is vital because people
increasingly face threats like government
surveillance, cyber attacks, disinformation,
and online harassment. Both state and
non-state actors target them to silence
dissent and control information. Without
strong digital protections, their safety, the
confidentiality of their sources, and the
integrity of their work are at risk. Ensuring
robust digital security safeguards their
ability to operate freely and protects
fundamental rights such as privacy, free
expression, and access to information
