This document presents a novel algorithm for despeckling synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to optimize curvelet coefficients. The proposed method effectively reduces speckle noise by identifying homogeneous regions within the images and applying a thresholding technique, demonstrating better performance compared to conventional filters. Experimental results indicate significant improvements in image quality as measured by various assessment parameters such as Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) and noise variance.
