Milestones
1. Elected as Vice-President of PROCASUR Corporation in 2010.
2. Startup of PROCASUR´s Africa Regional Office in 2009 and the Asia Regional Office in 2011.
3. Upgrade from research and evaluation to programme management responsibilities in 2006 with the
general coordination of the Learning Routes Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean in 2006.
4. Became member of the Catedra de Estudios Latinoamericanos Enzo Faletto at the Universidad de Chile in
2002.
Achievements
1. Managing more than 40 development practitioner teams and over 100 professionals from 25 different
nationalities since 2006.
2. Counting with solid professional skills based on field exposure to address natural resource management
and rural poverty in a holistic, multistakeholder and interdisciplinary way.
3. Leading programs and projects of PROCASUR that have leveraged over 10 million USD since 2006.
4. Being able and accountable to achieve and show tangible results in the fields of natural resource
management and rural development in over 15 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and
Africa.
Contributions
1. The early work with the Government of Chile and Universidad de Chile focuses on the research of
rural and social issues and designing regional and provincial strategies for forest, land and water
management.
2. The work with the Biodiversa Foundation resulted in inputs for the Native Trees Law in Chile, and the
mainstreaming at central and local government of a Biodiversity Strategy for the Juan Fernandez
Archipelago.
3. In the extended collaboration with PROCASUR, beside managing several projects I have lead the
expansion process, been involved in the scaling- up agenda of the knowledge management and capacity
building strategy, including SSC tools such as the Learning Routes, Learning Territories and Farmer
internship and farmer´s participation as so-called ‘Local Champions’ in extension services and the
Knowledge and Innovation Marketplace.

Mid- to long-term professional aspirations
Professionally, I am striving to upgrade the impact of my work on the livelihood of rural communities and to make
substantial and systematic technical contribution to the know-how of the development community. In the next five
years, I expect to expand my experiences gained in Latin America, Asian and in eastern and Southern Africa to
new territories and thematic areas by joining international or national development agencies. I see myself as a key
player in managing natural resource management and rural development investments, building the capacities of
diverse teams of practitioners, actively participating in thematic, sectorial and territorial networks and therefore
contributing to better performance of policies and programs, as well as the sustainability and ownership of its

Duties and responsibilities:
Overall management of several programs aimed to improve the performance of natural resource management
including water management, agricultural and rural development projects in Latin America, Africa and Asia.
Designing, implementing and supervising knowledge management and capacity building programmes focused on
peer to peer learning and creation of knowledge networks on good practices and innovations which are replicable for
rural stakeholders at different levels
I have played a key role in the expansion of PROCASUR Corporation work since 2006. Including the startup of the
regional offices in Kenya and Thailand, leveraging over 10 million USD in financial resources, building the capacities
of multicultural and interdisciplinary teams for PROCASUR, coordinating with partners, donors and contractors, and
engaging with relevant sectorial, thematic and territorial networks in the new territories of action.
PROCASUR partners in the implementation of the programs include international organizations such as IFAD, FAO,
ILC, IDRC, Habitat, OXFAM, UNDP, UN-Women, Ford Foundation, ASEAN Foundation; international farmer
networks such as the Asia Indigenous People´s Pact (AIPP), the Asia-Pacific Farmers Association (AFA); and public
ministries, grassroots organizations and the academe in over 15 countries.

Since 2006 when I took the lead in several PROCASUR programmes I have written, edited, supervised and
published several articles and research documents in collaboration with IFAD, FAO, FORD and IDRC, among
others. Most have been published online and others make part of printed collections.
Since 2001 I have authored and published several studies in the areas of Rural Sociology in collaboration with
Social Science Faculty of the Universidad de Chile. Since that year I make part of the Catedra Enzo Faletto Verne
of the University, which provides thesis and research guidance to students.
Throughout my work I have worked as Knowledge management moderator and facilitator in different national and
international events organized by IFAD, Biodiversa, FAO, Ford Foundation, IDRC, UNOSSC, CGIAR, UNDP and
PROCASUR in the areas of natural resource management, biodiversity and rural development.

Contributions 1. The early work with the Government of Chile and Universidad de Chile focuses on the research of rural and social issues and designing regional and provincial strategies for forest, land and water management. 2. The work with the Biodiversa Foundation resulted in inputs for the Native Trees Law in Chile, and the mainstreaming at central and local government of a Biodiversity Strategy for the Juan Fernandez Archipelago. 3. In the extended collaboration with PROCASUR, beside managing several projects I have lead the expansion process, been involved in the scaling- up agenda of the knowledge management and capacity building strategy, including SSC tools such as the Learning Routes, Learning Territories and Farmer internship and farmer´s participation as so-called ‘Local Champions’ in extension services and the Knowledge and Innovation Marketplace.
