  1. Good afternonn ladies and gentlemen, It’s a pleasure to present this work be here in CSEDU 2019. I’d like to start by intoducing myself. I’m Jean-Marie Gilliot, associate professor at IMT Atlantique, a french engineering school. I do my research in Lab-STICC. Our research interest are in the field of knowledge enginieering and technology enhanced learning. I am going to talk about a side result of an itea project named MOOCtab. We refactor a classroom architecture dedicated to rich media blended learning and provide an innovative e-exam solution.
  2. My presentation will be structured as follows: First of all, I will give you a brief information about the context of our work and our motivation e-Exams Second, I will talk about related work related to functionalities needed in a e-exam solution Third, I will detail our solution that ensures a flexible, secure and rich e-exam solution that can be deployed in initial and lifelong training environments. I will share some insights from an initial case study conducted in our institution before finishing with a summary of the main points and some perspectives.
  3. Nowadays, a person will have many different jobs during his life. Lifelong Learning is becoming a central asset, beginning during initial training at university, pursuing during the whole career with many different jobs. For many reasons, we seek to increase empowerment of learners. According to Boud, Formative assessment is a central asset, but as e-learning is becoming widespread, certification opportunities become more accessible, and appear to have an impact on employability. MOOCs are now a way to provide certificates. In this presentation we will focus on summative assessment.
  4. The motivation behind this work is double. First, non formal learning is rarely studied in third places, although they are natural places for such learning, as P2PU initiative towards libraries tends to demonstrate. Dedicated e-exames solutions could foster such kind of learning. Social learning is here implemented as learning circles. Second, digital exams are still rare in universities, espcially in France, whereas it is an important objective in national startegy. Therefore, we have to research questions : Q1: can we design an e-exam solution, that is suitable to different places? Q2: is such solution acceptable for attendees?
  5. So our motivation was to propose an e-exam classroom outside the university or, at least to explore alternatives. Current e-exams solutions are rare, usually difficult to deploy and not flexible. This particular solution presented yesterday in session 2 “Tools to assess learning” propose an interesting facility as a student can choose a slot for his own assessment. 2) They are designed whether to be used in dedicated places, or at home isolated with a high speed connection, as MOOCs democratized it. 3) In this paper, we propose a proof of concept of a system that ca be deployed in third places and provide flexibility and innovative facilities to the attendees and to proctors in order to enhance e-exams. 4) We will present a first feedback of an experiment based on an exam in object oriented programming at our university
