Biological Perspective Essay
Introduction NyL Thompson is a 20 year old Junior Social Work major. She attends a Historically
Black University. She resides off campus in her own apartment. NyL grew up in a supportive and
loving home which consisted of herself, her older brother sister, her mother, and her step father. When
NyL was in the fourth grade she moved from the only home, school, and friends she had ever know
and into a new neighborhood and school, she did not understand why her mother would do such a
thing and began to become upset at her mother. At the age of fourteen NyL lost her father due to
health conditions. For days NyL would not eat, for weeks, and months she would lose focus and find
herself thinking about her father, she became depressed. When she graduated from high school she
began her journey as a college student. She had never experienced stress levels of this height, and
began adjusting her body as it became a norm . Biological Perspective NyL has no earlier history of
depression and she does not know anybody in her family that has experienced it so it may not be

adequate amount of sleep, I know as a college student these two subjects can be uncommon yet they
are critical for your wellbeing. Your body needs an opportunity to rest and repair itself and eating an
appropriate balanced diet is part in your psychological well being. Ultimately, if you are a spiritual

Analysis Of Fortune Hath Taken Thee Away My Love
Fortune fine or poor, remains a top priority in Sir Walter Raleigh s poem, Fortune Hath Taken Thee
Away, My love. Each stanza is drenched in depressing diction; as a result, not much of the poem can
be taken so literally. There are six quatrains in this poem: In the first quatrain, the author introduces to
the reader he has lost his love because fortune took it or her away; never in the poem does the author
give a specific answer as to who or what his love is. Although, in the third line, Raleigh does refer to
his love as princess, so we could assume the subject of this poem and his love is female. Continuing
on to the second quatrain, the man goes on to say fortune took away everything from him, just by
taking his love away. Because of this, the author now makes fortune, itself, a mortal enemy. Next, in
the third quatrain, the author becomes angry, telling himself all of the reactions to the loss are in vain.
He curses his eyes for weeping, his sighs and his continued search for his love. Moving into the fourth
quatrain, the author accepts sorrow as his new princess, in place of the one he lost; he begins to accept
his new loss. In comparison to the second quatrain, in the fifth, the author is almost glad to be able to
experience any kind of fortune, due to the fact even kings experience fortune. Finally, in the sixth
quatrain the author brings in the supernatural force of Cupid. He goes on to say if Cupid had used
wisdom s eyes, the author would not be suffering as

The Election Of The Uk
In this essay, I will discuss whether elections in the UK are fair. The viewpoint which I will be arguing
for is viewpoint two: we need to make some sensible adjustments to elections by, for example,
encouraging people to vote electronically in order to discourage fraud but shouldn t change much else
other than that. I will also evaluate the other viewpoints and why I do not believe these viewpoints are
the key to making UK elections fairer and more just . As of now, the UK uses the first past the post
system in their elections; this means that the candidate with the most votes becomes the MP for their
constituency.
One sensible adjustment that I believe is necessary is lowering the voting age to 16. Currently, the
voting age is 18. I think this makes elections unfair as young adults are being excluded from
influencing the decision hence making the outcome of the election affect their lives the most. For
example, young adults are massively affected by government education policies, I think they have a
right to choose which candidate best represents their views and gives them the opportunity to achieve
the best future possible. Some people might argue that 16 and 17 year olds are not responsible enough
to make the right decisions in regard to who to elect; a candidate which would best benefit them in the
future . However, some would say that young adults are unaware of the realm of politics and would
not be able to make a suitable decision for the country as a whole or

Case about Yahoo 1. Success as a Web Search Engine
a. Why was Yahoo! such an early success on the Web?
Yahoo was an early success due to a combination of factors such as timing, hard work, and a good
understanding of Web surfer s tastes and needs.. In early 1995, Net mania was just flowering. It was a
great time to be a young entrepreneur with an Internet idea. Dave Faldo and Jerry Yang saw a
consumer need for classifying and differentiating web sights. Resting the urge to automate this
process, Yahoo s founders instead chose to manually perform this search, reviewing and classifying
roughly 1000 sights a day. This approach combined with their decision to offer a free service lead to
early success.
b. Why was Yahoo! ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yahoo! provides its users with free services such as email, stock tracking, customized news searches,
weather, travel rates, and sports information all on one personalized home page.
However, Yahoo! founders realized that without a strong brand name, they would have difficulty
attracting both advertisers and users. In order to get people to use your sight the first time, having a
recognizable brand name in essential. New users have been bombarded with creative ads that may
well lead them to try Yahoo! before a competitor. It is well know that creating brand equity is the
surest way to find long term success in the business world. One has to go no further than Coca Cola to
see the lasting effects of building a recognizable brand name. Once users came in droves, advertisers
weren t far behind seeking to capitalize on this captive audience.
b. Do you approve of how Karen Edwards has promoted the Yahoo! brand? Why or why not? How
would you improve Yahoo! marketing? Explain why.
Edwards used an excellent approach in her initial marketing campaign. The majority of web surfers
are young. Targeting events and media that are frequently attended/subscribed to by the Gen X target
market proved quick and efficient way to attract interest.
The next step was to find a way to hold on to current users. This was accomplished with the consistent
offering of new services and distributing freebies that kept the Yahoo! brand name in the forefront of

Elizabethan Influence On Romeo And Juliet
The 16th century was a time of strict religious ruling, a strong queen and respected social classes. All
of which were crucial traits about the 16th century and defined the time period, and along with that,
formed the basis of many works of William Shakespeare, a classic author. The play Romeo and Juliet
by William Shakespeare was written amidst this time and shows a great example of these traits. More
specifically, the strict religious ruling which affected live during this time period. The information that

The Importance Of Ability Grouping
Ability grouping is the practice of grouping children together according to their talents in the
classroom, but is it an efficient way to handle differences in students abilities? Does this grouping
benefit students or is it just unfairly labeling them? Research, logic, and emotion often clash when
questions such as these are asked. ( Is Ability Grouping ) Not only do opponents of ability grouping
say that ...It not only fails to benefit any student, but also that the program channels poor and minority
students to low tracks where they receive a lower quality of instruction than other groups and this they
claim contributes to the widening of achievement gaps ( NEA Research Spotlight ) Despite that fact,
there are some reasons why it could also be a good thing to have around as well, like that the practice
allows teachers to tailor the pace and content of instruction much better to students needs and, thus
improves student achievement. Also, teachers can provide needed repetition and reinforcement for low
achieving students and an advanced level of instruction to those who are higher achievers. Ability
grouping can also boost confidence, and each student who really needs the help can get the individual
attention they need. One example of why it could be a convenient strategy to use is that the teachers
have the ability to adjust the pace of instruction to students needs. Despite the fact that those against
this strategy of teaching ...question whether or not this

1.02 Career Goals
From a very young age, I have pursued a career in the law field. As my mother worked as secretary for
a lawyer, I began to take more and more interest in his work. He was very open to sharing his work
with me and encouraged me to read up on the career. I have absolutely loved it ever since. To this day,
I continue to push myself to attain my dream of becoming a lawyer. As I came close to transferring, I
began to look at different CUNY schools to attain my bachelor s degree. They have great reputations,
provide exceptional education, and are affordable. I visited John Jay, Hunter, and Queens College. I
weighed the pros and the cons of each school, and decided Queens College was the best fit for me.
When I got accepted I was unbelievably excited and eager to go. I have one more semester left before
I make the transition into Queens College. After I finish my Biology and Food Culture classes this

Reaction Paper On Exorcism
Exorcisms are rituals performed on those speculated to be possessed by an evil spirit. The exorcists
who do the act of removing demons are typically Catholic priests. An exorcism is the process of
driving out demons, associated with primitive Roman Catholic beliefs. Though the idea of exorcisms
are mainly related to Roman Catholics, there is documentation of Jesus Christ performing an exorcism
in the Holy Bible. This is a much older concept that is not widely believed the way it was in earlier
society.
Possession occurs when a person, place, or thing is taken over by a demon; which is when exorcisms
become necessary. Baptismal and simple exorcisms are preformed to avert possession, while a real
exorcism takes place after possession. The theory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first is recognizing the presence of the demon. The second is pretense, the demon does its best to
act as if they are the person they are possessing. The exorcist tries their best to discover the demon s
name, which gives the exorcist control over the demon. The breakpoint is when the demon reveals
their identity, they will speak in their own voice. During the step that is referred to as the clash, the
exorcist and demon battle each other to win over the being of the possessed. If the exorcist is
successful throughout the first four steps, then the fifth is expulsion. At this point, the demon has
either departed or was killed. Each of these five steps have to be done correctly in order for the demon
to be driven out.
The success of an exorcism is dependent upon the exorcist. Your typical priest most likely isn t trained
to perform an exorcism. However, each Catholic church needs at least one exorcist. IAEO, the
International Association of Exorcists, was established in 1992. Pauline Fr. Gabriele Amorth is
supposedly the founder of this organization that originated in Rome. There are over five hundred
members in the IAEO, even though exorcisms today are extremely rare. An exorcist must be
exceedingly educated on exorcisms and dedicated to warding off evil

Rear Window, Miss Lonelyheart
While Jeff is the protagonist and their are many women in Rear Window, Miss Lonelyheart , Stella,
and Lisa play a key role in developing Jeff as a person and solving the mystery.
Miss lonelyheart, who is played by actress Judith Evelyn, is a interesting and important sub character
that helps Jeff understand the possible consequences of his voyeuristic habits. For example, we see a
nighttime set with Jeff and Lisa enjoying a chilled glass of wine. Jeff is looking out the window and is
watching Miss. Lonelyheart intently as she is preparing a meal for two; one for herself and the second
for a former love. Jeff sips his wine with her from across the courtyard and watches as she breaks

Stella plays a articulate role as a mother character and also as a prophet. When she first arrives she
portrays a very forward women bossing Jeff around like a mother might to their grown son. One of my
favorite examples of her character is when she says to Jeff in discussion about Lisa, I can hear you
now: Get out of my life, you wonderful woman. You re too good for me . More interestingly, Stella
acts as a prophet to what will happen in the film. She says multiple times that she can Smell trouble in
the apartment as she notices Jeff voristic habits. From a shot prospective, author John Belton points
out an interesting fact about Stella visual role to show she know more about what is about to happen,
...narrative perspectives, such as those of Stella, Lisa, and Doyle, which initially differ from Jeff s in
their refusal to believe him, ultimately give way to his perceptions, in large part because these
characters are forced to share his spatial position, to see events from the single perspective which is
his own. For Jeff, trapped at a fixed station point, there is only one possible way of interpreting what
he has heard and seen; his stubborn and herence to his reading of events is partially understood in
terms of his immobilization in space, which prohibits him, unlike the other characters, from gaining

Glioma Brain Tumor
On April 14, 2012, my husband was diagnosed with a Glioma Brain Tumor. Even three and a half
years after his diagnosis, I still don t really know much about Gliomas, so I have decided to research
this topic. Gliomas are primary brain tumors, which mean they start in the brain. They are a fairly
common type of brain tumor. These types of tumors originate in the glial cells. Glial cells in the brain
surround and support neurons. Because Gliomas often intermix with normal brain tissue, they are
called intrinsic brain tumors. Gliomas show up in three different types of cells: astrocytes,
oligodendrocytes and ependymal cells. Astrocytomas will be produced by an astrocyte, an
oligodendroglioma will be produced by an oligodendrocyte and epedymomas will be produced by an
ependymal cell. If there is a mixture of these cells, then it is called a mixed ... Show more content on

Type, size, grade of glioma, location of glioma, age, and overall health of a patient helps to determine
a treatment. Surgery to remove the glioma is commonly the first step in treatment. Sometimes, the
tumor is small and surrounded by healthy tissue and can be surgically removed. Other times, gliomas
are not easily separated from healthy tissue and are located in or around areas that cannot be surgically
removed. Radiation therapy sometimes follows surgery. Chemotherapy is another treatment used for
gliomas. Chemotherapy is often used with radiation therapy. Chemotherapy is a type of medication
used to kill tumor cells. Targeted drug therapy is also sometimes used as a treatment of gliomas. Some
people also like to use alternative medicine including, hypnosis, acupuncture, meditation and music

Information about prognosis for people with gliomas is very hard to find because there are so many
factors to determine. Prognosis is dependent on type of tumor, grade of tumor, size and shape of
tumor, position in the brain, age at diagnosis, and type of

Database Queries, Matlab For Data Acquisition And...
Introduction:
Domain Specific Languages (DSLs) are invented to focus and only applies to the context of its narrow
domain (eg. SQL for database queries, Matlab for data acquisition and mathematical modelling). For
research and special purpose, DSLs ensure the advantages of convenience and effectiveness over the
General Purpose Language (GPLs). There are two main approaches to DSLs:
1. Standalone DSLs with its own complier or interpreter, and it is often used in its own ecosystem. The
most common one within object oriented circles.
2. Other type is a DSLs embedded in a host GPLs. Such languages can have the look and feel of being
their own language, but they leverage the host GPL s existing ecosystem and initial semantics. This is
usually used by functional programmers.
Creating a full blown language may contain one or more DSLs, which an Embedded Domain Specific
Language (eDSL) is one of the popular implementation technique. The idea of eDSL is a domain
specific language defined in terms of a more powerful general purpose host language. The advantages
are that DSLS obtains the infrastructure of the host language and the GPLs can be used for
metaprogramming, creating manipulate programs in DSLs.
This paper will focus on the second type of approach, embedded DSLs inside a language, Haskell, a
pure functional programming language. Haskell is a good host GPL because of it s flexible
overloading, a powerful type system, and lazy semantics.

Employee benefits are an essential component of an organization s total rewards strategy.
Today companies design benefits packages that are unique and rewarding in order to attract and retain

benefits are no longer just the basics, such as healthcare and retirement plans. Organizations are now
expanding their benefits and rewards offerings to include creative perquisites, such as onsite childcare,

reward designed to provide employees with a special privilege, financial value, and/or personal

Employees are attracted to organizations that create innovative benefits packages. Organizations are
creating and adopting innovative benefits in order to improve their overall compensation strategies.
Compensation strategy defines how an organization plans to reward its employees for their time and
efforts. An effective compensation strategy enhances (1) talent management, (2) supports an
organization s business objectives, and (3) provides organizations with a return on their investment.
Therefore, in order for innovative benefits to enhance the competitiveness of an organization s overall
compensation strategy, the benefits must align with these three goals. First, innovative benefits plans
can give organizations a competitive advantage in recruiting, developing, and retaining talented
workers. The war for talent in the workforce is becoming more competitive. According to researcher

Comparing The Perfect Storm And Super Natural Disasters Of...
Both excerpts provide thorough descriptions on the causes and effects of disasters. The excerpt from
Super Natural Disasters of the 21st Century demonstrates three massive natural disasters that recently

Although both authors provide causes and effects on natural disasters, they use juxtaposed strategies

The authors, Jacqueline Adams and Ken Kostel, who wrote the excerpt Super Natural Disasters of the

Teen Suicides
Teen suicide in Colorado is at an all time high. It has become one of the biggest social problems
affecting all our lives in one way or another. It is a day to day experience and everyday news in our
society. It is the third leading cause of death within today s youth (Collegian). Along with so many
other things in the world that bring tragedy, it can be prevented. Douglas County needs to consider
preventing teen suicide by providing better, safer hotlines and resources, learning how to help peers

According to the Denver Post, Colorado s suicide rate, is one of the highest in the country. Statewide,

Alternatives to High Fructose Corn Syrup Essay
Alternatives to High Fructose Corn Syrup
Abstract
High fructose corn syrup has been used as a cheap alternative to classic sugars, like sucrose, since the
late 1970s. It is produced from corn, which is government subsidized so that it is cheaper than
standard table sugar. Unfortunately for the American public, high fructose corn syrup has many
potential health risks. Fortunately, there are prospective alternatives to this poisonous sweetener, even
among the most common ones, like Splenda, NutraSweet, and Sweet N Low.

The state of matter at room temperature is significant because liquid sweeteners have to be crystallized
to be used in solid food and take up more volume (which is limited), while solid sugars cannot always
be dissolved in liquids at the proper concentration, and tend to solidify or clump during storage.
Chemical stability matters because if something is chemically unstable, then it will break down into
potentially dangerous substances. Physical stability is key because sweeteners have to be shipped and
stored, and specific conditions tend to cost more. The melting point of sweeteners is significant for
baked goods, because consumers expect a specific taste from them, so sweeteners that emulate sucrose
are better.
Sucrose is a common disaccharide made of glucose and fructose bonded together in pairs. It is
generally used as common table sugar, which is purified from a sugar beet or sugar cane extract.
Sucrose is used all over the world because of its plethora of uses, such as its caramelization properties,
usefulness in structure of baked goods (biscuits, cookies, candies, pies, etc.), and its preservation of
candies and other junk foods . Unfortunately, the problems with using sucrose in the United States are
that it is comparatively less sweet than other competing sweeteners, it causes dental caries (cavities),
and that there are high imported sugar tariffs, so it typically costs more.
High fructose corn syrup is a sweetener derived from corn, which is used as

Femme Fatale Analysis
The largely stereotyped femme fatale is often generalised as being a piece of the classic genre of film
noir. But as much as the femme fatale is seen as representative of noir, and vice versa, when analyzing
the characteristics of noir the classic hard edged American film the presence of a femme fatale
interferes with the very idea of, as Angela Martin would say, hardboiled film noir. Films such as
Mildred Pierce, Gilda, and Klute, though objectively different, hold a commonality in that they all
present some aspects of film noir while not being seen as entirely so. Mildred Pierce presents
flashback narration and shots dominated by shadows, Gilda uses the well known role of the femme
fatale, but deviates from classic noir by presenting aspects of the femme fatal in two decidedly
different characters. And finally, Klute uses the trope of noir characters torn by psychological
dilemmas and internal discourse along with many other comparably noir characteristics while still
seeming to exist outside of the film noir genre. Dark and shadowy mise en scene shots are
characteristic of film noir, setting the tone for the sense of hopelessness that is often ingrained in the
narrative of classic noir. Along with what Sylvia Harvey describes as, ...the prevalence of shadows and
areas of darkness within the frame, the visual tension created by curious camera angles... , noir often
includes narrative voice overs, especially flashback narration. When analyzing Michael Curtiz s 1945

Analysis Of The Movie Mr. Essay
Mr. Bones is a story of a boy s account of his father s change of personality after joining a minstrel
show. The boy narrates the big contrast in the family dynamics as the father takes on an alternative
persona. The sudden change of personality causes the boy to doubt how his father really is. Mr. Bones
advocates the idea that we should not judge a book by its cover, as there is more to a person than what
we see. It also represents how everyone has feelings, and the desire to be heard and treated properly.
The author uses the minstrel show s songs, the Jim Crow laws and its stereotypical character Jim
Crow to symbolize the changes the character go through.
Mr. Bones revolves around a quiet dysfunctional family where the narrator describes that The quiet
household is often more turbulent than the household of the tyrant or the drunkard (Page 2). The
mother has full control of the household while the father can only listen to her constant nagging but he
always has a smile on his face. One day, his father introduces himself as Mr. Bones which is the father
s alternate personality. Mr. Bones often jokes and taunts even to his wife that makes his wife feel
smaller and more scared each day. It is interesting as that the narrator points out that the jokes his
father says are more than jokes (Page 13). These jokes are the father s way of telling the truth. For
example, the yellow mustard, which he calls mouse turd (Page 13), is tasteless and cheap. He also
pokes fun at the

Analysis Of Eve Kornfeld s Creating An American Culture...
History is the framework of every nation. It describes what life was like in a nation, hundreds perhaps
thousands of years previously. With history, many citizens are able to examine what lead to a crisis in
a nation such as the Stock Market Crash of 1929 or the Civil War in the 1800s in the United States of
America. Likewise, the moments of growth and economic success are looked at. From these past
endeavors, the people can examine what went wrong and what went right and determine how they can
stop themselves from making similar mistakes or act in a way that has been proven to work. In Eve
Kornfeld s Creating an American Culture 1775 1800, many different areas of national identity are
discussed, including the beginnings of documenting the history of America as an independent nation.
This was especially hard for Americans to create a singular national identity because there was bias in
the early works, the different colonies or states were extremely diverse, and many intellectuals had
different perspectives on the American identity. At the beginning of the historical documentation of
America, many individuals were amateurs and/or biased towards their native state. There were
different sides as to what the American Revolution was about so, If they wished to preserve their
image unsullied by European incursions, Americans would have to develop their own narratives of
nationhood (Kornfeld, 40). This brought a movement of amateur writers creating historical

Miss Strangeworth Quotes
People aren t always who they seem to be. In The Possibility of Evil, by Shirley Jackson, this idea is
explored in story form. One character, Miss Strangeworth, is the literary representation of this idea;
She is polite and nice in person, but at the same time, she anonymously writes hurtful letters that
spread false rumors to the whole town.
Firstly, Miss Strangeworth s character can be analyzed by considering what she says and does. She is,
without a shadow of a doubt, incredibly conceited. She believes she is above everyone else, and she
thinks she is more important that she actually is. This is evidenced by the following quote: ...And she
sometimes found herself thinking the town belonged to her. How could someone think an entire town
belongs to them without being conceited? Additionally, she is fairly judgemental to others. Evidence
being the following quote: Miss Strangeworth hated sloppiness. For reference, Miss Strangeworth was
speaking about a clearly distressed woman whose hair was slightly disheveled. Who could judge
others so quickly without being conceited? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator seems to mostly describe her, (although I would like to point out that the narrator seems
to be speaking about her from her own thoughts) as both innocent and possessive. Aside from
believing that the entire town belongs to her, she refuses to let anything go, even something as small
as a rose: Miss Strangeworth never gave away any of her roses, although the tourists often asked her.
She simply couldn t stand the idea of anything from her town being brought the outside world. The
thought of her roses being brought out of her town to far away places disturbed her, and she refused to
allow it. Considering the above, she can be described as both innocent and

Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 Character Analysis
Imagine a society where it is considered a crime to have books and new ideas or opinions. That is
what the world is like for Guy Montag in Ray Bradbury s novel Fahrenheit 451. In the beginning of
the novel, Guy Montag is a fireman who believes that there has never been and will never be a need
for books and every book should burn. As the story progresses, he interacts with people and
experiences events in his life that change his beliefs and views of the world. By the end of the novel,
Guy Montag can recite parts of books off the top of his head. In Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451, Guy

She ends up burning her house and herself. This caused Montag to want to read books to see why
someone would be willing to die because of them. While this event was important for Montag s
transformation, it did not cause the point of no return for his transformation. Near the end of the novel,
Guy Montag and the other firemen travel to a house, Montag s house, where he has to burn it and ends
up burning his boss, the fire captain. Montag is shocked when they arrive at his house and he
comments, Why said Montag slowly, we ve stopped in front of my house (Bradbury 120). Fire
Captain Beatty forces him to burn his own house. Afterward, Beatty s incessant nagging comments
cause Montag to get so angry that he burns Beatty and knocks out the rest of the firemen. Now,
Montag is evading capture after this event which caused him to completely throw away all of his
beliefs that he had prior to this and run with only the knowledge and faith he has with books. All of
these people and events are very influential in Montag s transformation. In Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit

changes from a blissfully ignorant fireman to a deeply informed book reader. Clarisse helped Montag

Leadership Is The Best Course Of Action For Leadership
Leadership is a complex subject, but for our purposes can be defined as the act of one person
influencing another person or group of people towards a common purpose that is beneficial for both
the leader and their followers. Many approaches have been taken by academics in attempting to
understand what leadership is at its core. Useful information has been unearthed by studying
leadership qualities in individuals and by studying the dynamic between leader and follower.
However, the abstractness of these studies left researches at somewhat of a loss for practical and
relevant information, that is until research began on the observable behavior of leaders. The Style
Approach is a useful way to look at the leader follower relationship because it incorporates elements
of behaviorist psychology and applies them to the study leadership as a phenomenon. The goal of this
essay is to use observable behavior in the context of the Leadership Grid to determine the best course
of action for leadership in any scenario.
Findings on Leadership via the Style Approach The Style Approach differs from other ways of
understanding leadership in that it is focused on the here and now rather than traits or tendencies
which are more difficult to quantify. This approach allows room for the subject of a study to change
over time, rather than being rigidly casted as something because they displayed certain characteristics
at a certain time. It also eliminates the idea that a leader depends upon

The Movie Invictus
Invictus: Is it Hollywood or is it History? No one is born hating another person because of the color of
his skin, or his background or his religion. People learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can
be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite. I have viewed
the Invictus film and thoroughly researched Nelson Mandela and the people he encountered during his
term in office and even during his prison time. Mandela has been one of the greatest inspirations in
this world, he has shown people that even if you start life bad, there are always things you can mend
back together. Mandela is definitely one of the most dedicated, encouraging people I have ever
researched about. In this paper I will prove that the film, Invictus, was historically accurate by
discussing the true historical people and events, summarizing the movie, and comparing and
contrasting how the movie portrayed the true people and events. Nelson was such an inspiration and
he influenced so many people in his lifetime, he was truly such a strong and straight forward person.
Nelson Mandela was from a village of Mvezo, Transkei. He was born July 18, 1918 and he was raised

I Have Collected Artifacts For The Association For Middle...
Throughout this fall semester, as a Preservice Middle Level Educator, I have been observing and
engaging in Ms. Mahdi s 7th grade Science class. It is at this placement that I have collected artifacts
for a portfolio to illustrate a competency and achievement related to the Association for Middle Level
Education standards. In this portfolio summary you will find various artifacts that help demonstrate
these AMLE standards. The AMLE standards as a whole, cover academic growth and set an
expectation for middle school teachers to be mindful that their middle school students are
continuously experiencing social and cognitive changes that should be addressed thoughtfully, just as
much as their academic needs.
The first artifact I included was a sample of student work where the students were asked to fill out a
survey to verify and understand their learning styles. This artifact was introduced with some history
and with an emphasis on how important it is for students to know and understand their own learning
styles. After a discussion on the importance of knowing thyself the students graded and scored their
learning style preferences. Next followed a discussion on the various types of learning styles and ways
students could incorporate their preferred learning styles when doing homework, classwork, and
studying for assessments. This artifact is a good example of how Standard 4: Element b., Middle
Level Instructional Strategies, can be applied directly to student assessments.

the British government announced that it will hold a referendum to decide if the country leaves the EU

according to the Guardian will be the influential party in Britain as they now control the European

way for Britain to leave the EU the government needs to negotiate a way out as the Britain and the EU
need to change their regulations to its own as their no longer need to conform to each other s rules

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle
Section 1
Presentation
To encourage missions in dangerous situations, flying stages that are little, spry and can take of
vertically are of investment. A stage that satisfies these necessities is a UAV (Unmanned Aerial
Vehicle) as a multicopter joined with a great control framework. A multicopter is a rotorcraft that has
more than two rotors, in light of the fact that a rotorcraft with two rotors is called helicopter (bicopter).
Multicopters have altered cutting edges with a pitch that are not conceivable to control, as it
accomplishes for a helicopter (through the swashplate), to control the bearing of the rotor push.
Rather, the rate of the rotors are shifted to accomplish movement control of a multicopter. For a
tricopter, there is additionally a servo joined that can tilt one of the engines and by that accomplish a
change in movement. Multirotor air ships are regularly utilized within model and radio controlled
activities due to the straightforward development and control. Because of the amount of rotors, the
extent of them doesn t have to be substantial in examination with a helicopter that just has one rotor to
actuate enough drive to lift it up. Uavs are frequently utilized within spots where it is troublesome for
a man to work in, for example, perilous situations, soak landscape and so forth. It is likewise a suitable

Essay on Missouri s Nonpartisan Selection of Judges Court...
During the 1930 s, the community became more and more displeased with the growing role of politics
in judicial selection and judicial decision making. Judges were inundated by outside pressures due to
the political features of the election process, and dockets were overcrowded due to time the judges
spent campaigning. In November 1940, voters amended the Missouri constitution by adopting the
Nonpartisan Selection of Judges Court Plan. This plan was placed on the ballot by initiative petition.
The acceptance of the plan by initiative referendum resulted from a public repercussion against the

Analysis Of The Book Breaking The Land
Breaking the Land discusses three major components throughout the book; cotton, tobacco, and the
rice culture. Pete Daniel, the author, discusses the transformation of these three subjects throughout
history. The different agriculture crops are described by explaining the environment that they are in
and the difficulties they come across. The book explains how the crops and the environment have
changed because of the difficulties they have faced. Diseases, race, inflation and deflation of crop
prices, laws, and the economy are some of the main problems that helped transform the environment
of the crop industry. The book explains in great detail the challenges that each crop undertook to
become a more modern industry, along with the increase of technology. Technology plays a large role
in creating a more modern life for the agriculture industries. Daniel goes on to explain the new
technology that is used during the timeline of events for the development of agricultural crops. In
Breaking the Land , it is broken up into four different books. Each book is in chronological order to
when events happened in history. Every book has several chapters contained in it that discusses the
transformation of each crop. For example, book one: Three Southern Commodity Cultures, 1880 1932

The Importance Of Voter Voting In The United States
Despite popular opinion that the United States is the greatest democracy in the world, we have
shockingly low voter turnout compared to international standards (Desilver). A complicated
registration process and strict restrictions on voting consistently discourage and inhibit Americans
from exercising their right to vote. Despite this, lawmakers continue to push for and often pass
unnecessary legislation limiting the ways in which citizens can register and cast their ballot. Certain
demographics are the most likely to be hindered by this kind of legislation, including young people,
poor people, and people of color. Politicians often use claims of voter fraud as an excuse to
systematically hinder these marginalized groups from participating in the democratic process, despite
being unable to back up those claims with any kind of concrete evidence. The limiting of voting rights
for young and minority populations is often blatantly politically motivated. Continuing to pile
restrictions and obstacles onto our electoral process is not only unnecessary, it is contradictory to
democratic values. There should be a shift in the focus of voting legislation towards expanding the
ways in which citizens can participate in elections and away from limiting them, which would both
increase voter turnout and ensure that all people have an equal voice in our government.
Voter registration legislation being used as a tactic to disenfranchise minority voters has a long history

The End of the World Essay
The End of the World
In writing definitively about American films of the nineteen fifties, Douglas Brode refers to the
societal hysteria resulting from fear of both the communist threat and the possibility of nuclear war.
Accompanying this general state of mind was the emergence of the science fiction film as a major
genre. Titles in the genre dealt with fantasy topics ranging from alien invasion (The Thing, 1951, or
Invasion of the Body Snatchers, 1956), to biologial missing links (The Creature from the Black
Lagoon, 1954), to the bizarre side effects of nuclear contamination (The Incredible Shrinking Man,
1957), or to actual nuclear war (The World, the Flesh and The Devil, 1959).

Strada describes a spectrum of discourses ranging from the extreme right, constituted of the governing
elite and the politicians notion of the Pax Atomica, to the extreme left, occupied by the type of panic
about the bomb which resulted in some of the more grizzly works of science fiction literature. The
other specific positions he addresses are the sugar coated science fiction films (left of centre), the
avoidance seeking general public (centre), and the atomic scientists with their varied acceptance of the

possibility of nuclear war constituted a daily reality in the life of the average American in the nineteen

experienced weekly drills teaching them the most effective positions to brace themselves against the
physical force of an atomic explosion, and true to form, the cinema presented society with various
reflections of face of the nuclear potential or the nuclear threat.
In most of the science fiction of the time, a primary concern related to the threat of the end of the
world is the belief that humanity, in its bizarre mix of madness and complacency, has created and
perfected the means of its own destruction. As a result, even in instances where the nuclear fiction

of innocence in the conviction of a boy charged with patricide. Ideally, leaders will possess an ability

After the twelve jurors had taken their initial vote, Juror Eight found himself to be a pariah among his
associates, for simply possessing an opinion contradictory to the other 11 men in the room; breaking
the pattern of unanimous voting, and declaring that he felt the accused might not be guilty. After the
other jurors took turns verbally expressing their dissatisfaction with his audacious contradiction to the
majority opinion, Juror Eight calmly responded: It s not so easy for me to raise my hand and send a
boy off to die without talking about it first (Fonda). Here lies the fundamental characteristic that

Summary Of Merlyn s Lessons Shape King Arthur
Merlyn s Lessons Shape King Arthur
King Arthur does not just magically become the amazing king he grows up to be. He is trained to
become a trusted ruler and a worthy knight. He learns the best lessons from his tutor, Merlyn. Merlyn
helps Arthur when he s a young boy who is under the rule of Sir Ector. Merlyn uses the most
extraordinary lessons to get Arthur to become successful in the long run. Not many people helped
Arthur as a young boy to become something other than Sir Kay s assistant. Overall, Merlyn s

trying to rule a group of people or in this case, ants. Wart understands that being a dictator and being
demanding won t make a kingdom better. In a way the lessons from the ants and from the fish teach
him the same thing; to rule for the people. So, in order to put this lesson to use Arthur uses his power
for good and he treats his kingdom with care. This is just another one of the many lessons Merlyn
teaches in order to transform Wart into King Arthur. The Once and Future King goes on about how
Arthur s early life truly shaped King Arthur for the better. King Arthur is known to be one of the
greatest rulers of all times. He gets his amazing leadership from the people that raised him, Sir Ector
and Merlyn. Furthermore, Merlyn s numerous lessons truly shaped Arthur in becoming the rightful

NyL grew up in a supportive and loving home which consisted of herself, her older brother sister, her mother, and her step father. When NyL was in the fourth grade she moved from the only home, school, and friends she had ever know and into a new neighborhood and school, she did not understand why her mother would do such a thing and began to become upset at her mother. At the age of fourteen NyL lost her father due to health conditions. For days NyL would not eat, for weeks, and months she would lose focus and find herself thinking about her father, she became depressed. When she graduated from high school she began her journey as a college student. She had never experienced stress levels of this height, and began adjusting her body as it became a norm . Biological Perspective NyL has no earlier history of depression and she does not know anybody in her family that has experienced it so it may not be hereditary qualities but rather there are numerous other causes, for ... Some coping strategies I would prescribe to NyL is take part in a physical workout, ideally yoga it gets your heart rate up and allows you to become more flexible. • 3. Analysis Of Fortune Hath Taken Thee Away My Love Fortune fine or poor, remains a top priority in Sir Walter Raleigh s poem, Fortune Hath Taken Thee Away, My love. Each stanza is drenched in depressing diction; as a result, not much of the poem can be taken so literally. There are six quatrains in this poem: In the first quatrain, the author introduces to the reader he has lost his love because fortune took it or her away; never in the poem does the author give a specific answer as to who or what his love is. Although, in the third line, Raleigh does refer to his love as princess, so we could assume the subject of this poem and his love is female. Continuing on to the second quatrain, the man goes on to say fortune took away everything from him, just by taking his love away. Because of this, the author now makes fortune, itself, a mortal enemy. Next, in the third quatrain, the author becomes angry, telling himself all of the reactions to the loss are in vain. He curses his eyes for weeping, his sighs and his continued search for his love. Moving into the fourth quatrain, the author accepts sorrow as his new princess, in place of the one he lost; he begins to accept his new loss. In comparison to the second quatrain, in the fifth, the author is almost glad to be able to experience any kind of fortune, due to the fact even kings experience fortune. Finally, in the sixth quatrain the author brings in the supernatural force of Cupid. He goes on to say if Cupid had used wisdom s eyes, the author would not be suffering as ... • 4. The Election Of The Uk In this essay, I will discuss whether elections in the UK are fair. The viewpoint which I will be arguing for is viewpoint two: we need to make some sensible adjustments to elections by, for example, encouraging people to vote electronically in order to discourage fraud but shouldn t change much else other than that. I will also evaluate the other viewpoints and why I do not believe these viewpoints are the key to making UK elections fairer and more just . As of now, the UK uses the first past the post system in their elections; this means that the candidate with the most votes becomes the MP for their constituency. One sensible adjustment that I believe is necessary is lowering the voting age to 16. Currently, the voting age is 18. I think this makes elections unfair as young adults are being excluded from influencing the decision hence making the outcome of the election affect their lives the most. For example, young adults are massively affected by government education policies, I think they have a right to choose which candidate best represents their views and gives them the opportunity to achieve the best future possible. Some people might argue that 16 and 17 year olds are not responsible enough to make the right decisions in regard to who to elect; a candidate which would best benefit them in the future . However, some would say that young adults are unaware of the realm of politics and would not be able to make a suitable decision for the country as a whole or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The exorcists who do the act of removing demons are typically Catholic priests. An exorcism is the process of driving out demons, associated with primitive Roman Catholic beliefs. Though the idea of exorcisms are mainly related to Roman Catholics, there is documentation of Jesus Christ performing an exorcism in the Holy Bible. This is a much older concept that is not widely believed the way it was in earlier society. During the step that is referred to as the clash, the exorcist and demon battle each other to win over the being of the possessed. If the exorcist is successful throughout the first four steps, then the fifth is expulsion. At this point, the demon has either departed or was killed. Chemical stability matters because if something is chemically unstable, then it will break down into potentially dangerous substances. Physical stability is key because sweeteners have to be shipped and stored, and specific conditions tend to cost more. But as much as the femme fatale is seen as representative of noir, and vice versa, when analyzing the characteristics of noir the classic hard edged American film the presence of a femme fatale interferes with the very idea of, as Angela Martin would say, hardboiled film noir. Films such as Mildred Pierce, Gilda, and Klute, though objectively different, hold a commonality in that they all present some aspects of film noir while not being seen as entirely so. Mildred Pierce presents flashback narration and shots dominated by shadows, Gilda uses the well known role of the femme fatale, but deviates from classic noir by presenting aspects of the femme fatal in two decidedly different characters. And finally, Klute uses the trope of noir characters torn by psychological dilemmas and internal discourse along with many other comparably noir characteristics while still seeming to exist outside of the film noir genre. Dark and shadowy mise en scene shots are characteristic of film noir, setting the tone for the sense of hopelessness that is often ingrained in the narrative of classic noir. • 25. Analysis Of Eve Kornfeld s Creating An American Culture... History is the framework of every nation. It describes what life was like in a nation, hundreds perhaps thousands of years previously. With history, many citizens are able to examine what lead to a crisis in a nation such as the Stock Market Crash of 1929 or the Civil War in the 1800s in the United States of America. Likewise, the moments of growth and economic success are looked at. From these past endeavors, the people can examine what went wrong and what went right and determine how they can stop themselves from making similar mistakes or act in a way that has been proven to work. In Eve Kornfeld s Creating an American Culture 1775 1800, many different areas of national identity are discussed, including the beginnings of documenting the history of America as an independent nation. This was especially hard for Americans to create a singular national identity because there was bias in the early works, the different colonies or states were extremely diverse, and many intellectuals had different perspectives on the American identity. At the beginning of the historical documentation of America, many individuals were amateurs and/or biased towards their native state. There were different sides as to what the American Revolution was about so, If they wished to preserve their image unsullied by European incursions, Americans would have to develop their own narratives of nationhood (Kornfeld, 40). This brought a movement of amateur writers creating historical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Miss Strangeworth Quotes People aren t always who they seem to be. In The Possibility of Evil, by Shirley Jackson, this idea is explored in story form. One character, Miss Strangeworth, is the literary representation of this idea; She is polite and nice in person, but at the same time, she anonymously writes hurtful letters that spread false rumors to the whole town. Firstly, Miss Strangeworth s character can be analyzed by considering what she says and does. She is, without a shadow of a doubt, incredibly conceited. She believes she is above everyone else, and she thinks she is more important that she actually is. This is evidenced by the following quote: ...And she sometimes found herself thinking the town belonged to her. How could someone think an entire town belongs to them without being conceited? Additionally, she is fairly judgemental to others. Evidence being the following quote: Miss Strangeworth hated sloppiness. • 28. Leadership Is The Best Course Of Action For Leadership Leadership is a complex subject, but for our purposes can be defined as the act of one person influencing another person or group of people towards a common purpose that is beneficial for both the leader and their followers. Many approaches have been taken by academics in attempting to understand what leadership is at its core. Useful information has been unearthed by studying leadership qualities in individuals and by studying the dynamic between leader and follower. However, the abstractness of these studies left researches at somewhat of a loss for practical and relevant information, that is until research began on the observable behavior of leaders. The Style Approach is a useful way to look at the leader follower relationship because it incorporates elements of behaviorist psychology and applies them to the study leadership as a phenomenon. The goal of this essay is to use observable behavior in the context of the Leadership Grid to determine the best course of action for leadership in any scenario. Findings on Leadership via the Style Approach The Style Approach differs from other ways of understanding leadership in that it is focused on the here and now rather than traits or tendencies which are more difficult to quantify. This approach allows room for the subject of a study to change over time, rather than being rigidly casted as something because they displayed certain characteristics at a certain time. I have viewed the Invictus film and thoroughly researched Nelson Mandela and the people he encountered during his term in office and even during his prison time. Mandela has been one of the greatest inspirations in this world, he has shown people that even if you start life bad, there are always things you can mend back together. In this paper I will prove that the film, Invictus, was historically accurate by discussing the true historical people and events, summarizing the movie, and comparing and contrasting how the movie portrayed the true people and events. The AMLE standards as a whole, cover academic growth and set an expectation for middle school teachers to be mindful that their middle school students are continuously experiencing social and cognitive changes that should be addressed thoughtfully, just as much as their academic needs. The first artifact I included was a sample of student work where the students were asked to fill out a survey to verify and understand their learning styles. This artifact was introduced with some history and with an emphasis on how important it is for students to know and understand their own learning styles. After a discussion on the importance of knowing thyself the students graded and scored their learning style preferences. Next followed a discussion on the various types of learning styles and ways students could incorporate their preferred learning styles when doing homework, classwork, and studying for assessments. The Importance Of Voter Voting In The United States Despite popular opinion that the United States is the greatest democracy in the world, we have shockingly low voter turnout compared to international standards (Desilver). A complicated registration process and strict restrictions on voting consistently discourage and inhibit Americans from exercising their right to vote. Despite this, lawmakers continue to push for and often pass unnecessary legislation limiting the ways in which citizens can register and cast their ballot. Certain demographics are the most likely to be hindered by this kind of legislation, including young people, poor people, and people of color. Politicians often use claims of voter fraud as an excuse to systematically hinder these marginalized groups from participating in the democratic process, despite being unable to back up those claims with any kind of concrete evidence. The limiting of voting rights for young and minority populations is often blatantly politically motivated. Continuing to pile restrictions and obstacles onto our electoral process is not only unnecessary, it is contradictory to democratic values. There should be a shift in the focus of voting legislation towards expanding the ways in which citizens can participate in elections and away from limiting them, which would both increase voter turnout and ensure that all people have an equal voice in our government. Titles in the genre dealt with fantasy topics ranging from alien invasion (The Thing, 1951, or Invasion of the Body Snatchers, 1956), to biologial missing links (The Creature from the Black Lagoon, 1954), to the bizarre side effects of nuclear contamination (The Incredible Shrinking Man, 1957), or to actual nuclear war (The World, the Flesh and The Devil, 1959).
