Consumer fraud has been increasing significantly, particularly exacerbated by the pandemic, with incidents growing nearly 23% from 2020 to 2021. A study of eight countries forecasts that the number of victims could rise by up to 115% by 2027, resulting in direct and indirect costs reaching as high as $198 billion. Public safety agencies are encouraged to innovate in collaboration with partners, enhance citizen engagement, and leverage technology to mitigate and respond to the challenges posed by consumer fraud.
