TOOLS EQUIPMENT
Handheld and smaller Larger and more
complex
To do specific tasks Support or carry out
bigger operations
Usually manual Often powered by
electricity, gas, or engine
What is the
importance of these
tools and equipment?
• Efficient work
• Easier work
• For safety
• Saves time
• Reduce physical effort
Let’s decode!
Computer
ICT
This is a programmable device that stores,
retrieves, and processes data.
This information and communication
technology is the infrastructure and
components that enable modern computing.
Hardware
Consists of the physical parts of a computer
system
Application App for short, is a software program
designed to help a computer user
accomplish a task.
Software This is a collection of instructions, data, or
computer programs used to operate
computers and execute specific tasks
DISCUSSION
:
IMPORTANCE OF
INFORMATION AND
COMMUNICATION
TECHNOLOGY IN
TODAY’S WORLD
•Makes communication faster and
easier
•Improves access to information
•Supports businesses and workplaces
•Helps us be more creative
•Makes life convenient
ACTIVITY: POSTER MAKING (Thursday and Friday)
1. Bring short bond paper, a pencil, and
coloring materials.
2. On a short bond paper, draw a poster
showing ICT’s importance in our daily life.
Your poster must include the following:
- a title of your poster
- explanation of your work
- colorful and creative design
• The team leader will collect the
individual outputs.
• The class president will collect the
group outputs.
• To be submitted on FRIDAY in the
faculty room.
We live in a digital age where Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) is part of our
daily lives—from the apps we use on our phones
to how businesses operate and how artists create.
But have you ever wondered what tools and
equipment professionals in ICT fields use to get
their jobs done?
Four major ICT areas or fields:
• Computer Programming
• Computer Systems Servicing
• Visual Arts
• Telecommunications
A. Computer
Programming
Computer Programming is writing
instructions using a programming
language to make a computer do
specific tasks like solving problems,
running apps, or creating websites and
games.
Coding is
writing
instructions for
the computer.
It creates games,
builds apps,
designs websites,
controls robots,
and others.
1. HARDWARE
The primary device used for writing code, running programs,
and testing software. The choice between a desktop or laptop
depends on user preference and technical requirements.

C O M P U T E R L A P T O P
2. SOFTWARE
• Integrated Development Environments (IDEs)
All-in-one platforms that support editing, debugging, and
compiling code.
Examples: Visual Studio Code, IntelliJ IDEA,
PyCharm, Eclipse, Xcode
2. IDE SOFTWARE
• Editing – changing or fixing your code; adding or
correcting new parts of the instruction
• Debugging – finding and fixing mistakes called “bugs”
in the code
• Compiling – turning your code into a language the
computer understands
• Code Editors
Lightweight tools for quick scripting and coding.
Examples: Sublime Text, Atom, Notepad++
• Version Control Systems (VCS)
Manage and track changes to source code over time.
Examples: Git, Subversion (SVN), Mercurial
• Repositories and Collaboration
Platforms
Platforms for storing, sharing, and collaborating
on code.
Examples: GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket
• Compilers and Interpreters
Convert high-level code into executable
programs or run code line-by-line.
Examples: GCC, Clang, Python Interpreter,
Node.js
• Debuggers
Tools for testing and debugging code.
Examples: GDB, LLDB, IDE-integrated debuggers
• Package Managers
Handle installation and management of
libraries and dependencies.
Examples: npm (Node.js), pip (Python), Maven,
Gradle, NuGet
• Build Automation Tools
Automate compiling code, running tests, and
deployment tasks and application.
Examples: Jenkins, Travis CI, CircleCI, Make, Ant

B. Computer
Systems
Servicing
CSS is taking care of computers to make sure they work
properly. It includes:
• Checking the parts of a computer (like keyboard,
monitor, CPU)
• Cleaning inside and outside of the computer
• Installing programs and apps
• Fixing problems when the computer is not working well
• Setting up the internet connection and networks
Computer System Servicing
• Hand tools (pliers, screwdrivers,
anti-static wristband)
• Cable testers and multimeters
• Cleaning kits
• Diagnostic software
Include screwdrivers, pliers, and anti-static
wristbands for hardware repair and maintenance.
