Main   Question What do we do in developing a heritage industry in an era of globalization?
Definition of heritage At the community level as the process of enhancing a community for the residents as well as for the tourists. It includes local handicrafts, language, gastronomy, art and music, architecture, sense of place, historic sites, festivals and events, heritage resources, the nature of the work environment as well as technology, religion, education…etc.
Local heritage industry Heritage tourism connects authenticity, promotion, site development, interpretation, Visitor services, and economic development where related professionals and the private owners work together to develop the industry.
Definition of Globalisation  Heritage is a part of the very economic, social and cultural globalisation  Globalisation is a process with consequences The process of integration of the world community into a common system either economical, social and cultural
Local versus global ? Impacts of the process of globalisation on local tourism Does heritage shape local places ? Does local people create local heritages ? Does Global Village destroy local Heritage ? Do World Heritage agencies create Global heritage ? Does Global people create global heritage ?
Assumption   We are creating landscapes of consensus, a sort of unique same place in which tourists are happy to see what they want and residents are proud of their heritage  The commodification of unique past into heritage might not produce, as we commonly think, a unique place or group  product.
How to demonstrate it ? Comparative perspectives : Comparing touristification of places in Scotland with those of some westerner locations, such as Canada (Quebec province), USA (Louisiana) but also Europeans for example Belgian and France (Lyon).

Boutique Hotels and Design An  illustration of the globalization of architectural and marketing concepts for a class of distinctive tourists   I would like to show the role of the Designers and the links of historic cities and the choice of its luxury products.
Boutique Hotels concept BH create experiences, urban theater, events.  BH create a hotel to serve a lifestyle BH use experiential design strategies to create a total experience for their customers. A "world within a world."   BH = the concept of center cities, avant-garde, cutting-edge design concepts   Question : Are Boutique Hotels a "reaction to the global homogenization of cultures - the  Gap-izing  of the world - ?

Boutique Hotels and International Tension The boutique hotel industry, because of its international segment, is particularly vulnerable   In USA and Canada it is not a pleasant landscape at the moment  (WAR, Fear of terrorism and SARS) ADVICE One of the things that boutique developers need to be mindful of is to devote just as much attention to the customer and service and employees and the whole infrastructure as they do to the design concept. Guests are the priority.
Conclusion At the end of these five years, I intend to be a renowned expert on international cultural heritage tourism. In order to meet this objective, I intend to publish in English results of my research such as papers in Annals of Tourism Research, papers in international professional literature Because I would like to work also in a collaborative way, joining my effort to your work here in the department, I intend to contribute to Scottish Tourism reflections with other members of the team who are already involved in the tourism and hospitality sector In order to complete plans, I will ask Scottish Government for Cultural Tourism funds and I will look for European funds because it is clear that cultural tourism is the most promising segment in Tourism Industry for the Future I wish to contribute to the prestige of your School by my publications and my commitments within the School, here in Glasgow and in your Hotel School's off-shore in Iran and Hong Kong.

Guests are the priority.
  • 40. Conclusion At the end of these five years, I intend to be a renowned expert on international cultural heritage tourism. In order to meet this objective, I intend to publish in English results of my research such as papers in Annals of Tourism Research, papers in international professional literature Because I would like to work also in a collaborative way, joining my effort to your work here in the department, I intend to contribute to Scottish Tourism reflections with other members of the team who are already involved in the tourism and hospitality sector In order to complete plans, I will ask Scottish Government for Cultural Tourism funds and I will look for European funds because it is clear that cultural tourism is the most promising segment in Tourism Industry for the Future I wish to contribute to the prestige of your School by my publications and my commitments within the School, here in Glasgow and in your Hotel School's off-shore in Iran and Hong Kong.
