back that clicktivism
is more about
awareness than
material results
But even so,
Clicktivism
can still do
more than
just raise
awareness
Studies
propose one
of the main
reasons
people donate
is because
they’ve been
asked by
someone they
care about 4
Spreading awareness and gathering funds online is
fundamentally the same concept as gathering
publicly to protest or fundraise.

BUT WHY NOT BOTH???
Are there ways
clicktivism can help
besides directly
raising
donations

… And now that activists are beginning to discover innovative
ways to convert this awareness into donations and
quantifiable results, it is only a matter of time until clicktivism
becomes the most powerful tool for social change.
The University of Sydney found Facebook was the
most effective tool to increase political
participation in the younger generations.7

In conclusion, using the internet for social
change is very effective. Furthermore, this
approach demonstrates enormous potential to
surpass simply raising awareness and move onto
material, quantifiable results.

  • 6. However, Critics claim “a click is not enough to have an impact on the world” 3
  • 7. Clicktivists argue back that clicktivism is more about awareness than material results
  • 8. But even so, Clicktivism can still do more than just raise awareness
  • 9. Studies propose one of the main reasons people donate is because they’ve been asked by someone they care about 4
  • 10. Spreading awareness and gathering funds online is fundamentally the same concept as gathering publicly to protest or fundraise.

  • 12. BUT WHY NOT BOTH???
  • 13. Are there ways clicktivism can help besides directly raising donations

  • 16. … And now that activists are beginning to discover innovative ways to convert this awareness into donations and quantifiable results, it is only a matter of time until clicktivism becomes the most powerful tool for social change.
  • 17. The University of Sydney found Facebook was the most effective tool to increase political participation in the younger generations.7
  • 18. “We have found overall that increasing use of social media leads to more political participation by young people” -Prof. Vromen of UoS 7
  • 19. In conclusion, using the internet for social change is very effective. Furthermore, this approach demonstrates enormous potential to surpass simply raising awareness and move onto material, quantifiable results.
