OVERVIEW
Dynamic Network Optimiser (DNO)
Dynamic Network Optimiser (DNO) is a TETRA optimisation suite that models wide band
receiver data to maximise network performance. DNO has been designed to allow end
users the tools to simulate network design changes in a virtual environment. This approach
allows users to implement change without risk to live networks, in a timely manner that
ultimately reduces overall OPEX due to reduced confirmation testing. The repetitive testing
activities associated with the network optimisation can be eliminated.
ETSI STANDARD RESELECTION SIMULATOR
We apply the ETSI standard TETRA reselection algorithm, integrated within the DNO
solution to virtually assess the level of Subscriber performance. This reduces the risk of
impact to network users when assessing site configuration change.
NETWORK PARAMETER OPTIMISATION
DNO gives the Network Manager/Engineer the chance to observe base station
parameters such as FRT, SRT, FRH, SRH and Min Rx Level. This way, you can see if, and
how, behavior changes occur in order to arrive at a more detailed understanding of what
changes to make, before implementing them on the live network.changes to make, before
implementing them on the live network.
NEIGHBOUR OPTIMISATION
Neighbour lists are often over-populated resulting in illogical and unhelpful serving sites,
cell dragging and a general degradation in subscriber mobility and performance. In DNO,
neighbour changes can be analyzed and checked to ensure both reciprocal and one way
relationships are managed and then applied correctly first time.

FEATURES
FULL GIS CAPABILITIES
DNO makes effective use of the MapInfo MapXtreme .NET 2008 mapping API. This allows
for full .NET object model integration to existing IT infrastructure and interoperability with
legacy GIS data sets.
CO-CHANNEL INTERFERENCE
Because TETRA networks often have to operate within limited frequency spectrum,
co-channel interference is a major aspect of network optimisation. DNO uses recorded
network data which eliminates the need to predict an RF footprint. Proprietary sorting
algorithms are applied that take into account factors such as operational footprints
– as opposed to planned, C/I and intermodulation, to name a few. This allows users to
accurately identify where co-channel interference is occurring and address those using
frequency re-allocation methods.

BASE RADIO C/I
DNO enables users to leverage existing RF data sets to analyse calibrated network
measurements. Utilising observed readings removes the need for RF propagation model
predictions that are liable to degrees of error. The outcome is an accurate reflection
of subscribers’ performance across the network. The ability to manipulate network
parameters post-process allows maximum flexibility when performing optimisation tasks,
reducing ongoing OPEX associated with network change confirmation.

NETWORK MONITORING
Network operators or facility managers often have a duty to provide network impact
assessments, particularly in critical communications. DNO allows users to generate
Site Down reports to compute the impact on coverage and how this may affect end
users with dynamic site footprints. In the event of a period of cell outage, users have the
opportunity to review suitable fallback cell candidates and apply parameter changes that
facilitate continued coverage.
SCALABILITY
DNO’s feature sets were designed for single seat deployments and concurrent enterprise
level user bases. In the case of the latter, MapInfo work space management tools enable
knowledge sharing and collaborative work groups. The end result is a fully customizable
optimisation tool.

CHANGE MANAGEMENT MODULE (CMM)
Effective Change Management is a vital factor in achieving sustained network performance.
DNO offers a Change Management Module (CMM) that allows users to document network
changes and to keep track of work over time with the aim of following and observing network
progress. This also provides the chance to benchmark network performance for ongoing
network maintenance activities.
AIR ANALYSER
The Air Analyser module enables the input of radio air interface test data that provides both
point and interpolation functions which aid network performance analysis and coverage fault
identification.
