Feedback from teachers using a mobile interactive whiteboard


eInstruction wanted to work with teachers to understand their use of the range of Mobi mobile
interactive whiteboards, in partnership with different local institutions in charge of education.

Different teachers who regularly use Mobi devices in educative process shared their ways of
working with them, and highlighted some key advantages.



Discovering Mobi

The Mobi mobile interactive whiteboards are developed by eInstruction, and can totally replace a fixed
interactive whiteboard, or be used in a complementary manner.

Indeed, as a high school teacher from Rouen stated: "The Mobi can totally
replace the whiteboard when teaching or training. It requires no special
equipment to be fitted in the room, and can be used with any projector for a
presentation or interactive lessons. "

In order to help student concentration levels and in turn help them to
understand and succeed, teachers can distribute up to nine Mobi Learner
student-orientated devices at the same time. This means that Mobi offers
the possibility for students to directly influence during the lesson, whether
individually or in groups, contributing in turns or offering input simultaneously from the multiple Mobi
Learners, straight from their seats.

Mobi, as highlighted by several teachers, can work on any type of content with its open design. It can be
used during practical work, helping drive the lesson, and allowing various documents made during
experiments (such as photos, videos etc.) to be annotated.



Contributions from Mobi

Several points emerge from speaking with educators:

• One of the first advantages is mobility. Teachers can move around the classroom with the Mobi and easily
see what the students are doing. It also allows remote access to the board from anywhere in the room.

A high school art teacher provided the example of that when his students drew, he could go around and
see each one of them with a notebook and make sketches to show and explain some points. Now, with the
Mobi, these sketches can benefit the whole class. The possibility to move is important, as a primary teacher
supports; being able to see each student, instead of staying at the board.

• For students, it is both the options for collaboration and participation that have been cited as benefits of
using the Mobi. A primary teacher indicated that it also develops students’ socialisation skills by teaching
them to work with each other. In addition, they participated more in lessons and took part in more activities.

Alongside this, the ability to have multiple users at the same time introduces a notion of individualised work.



For this primary teacher, using the Mobi helps different activities to be run with students simultaneously and
it also promotes concentration. It has also been observed in the classroom that students take more initiative
in the learning process; they learn to organise their work themselves, having a great sense of autonomy.

• In terms of pedagogy and concerning the processing of information, students now have easier access to
information and can learn how to categorise it. In addition, Mobi can quickly process errors and explain
these.

• Finally, from an economic point of view, the range of mobile interactive whiteboards can be easily used
with already existing class configurations, including those that already have a projector. In this way, Mobi
provides access to the same features as a fixed interactive whiteboard, but at a fraction of the cost.

Case study - France - General feedbacks from theachers using a mobi

Feedback from teachers using a mobile interactive whiteboard eInstruction wanted to work with teachers to understand their use of the range of Mobi mobile interactive whiteboards, in partnership with different local institutions in charge of education. Different teachers who regularly use Mobi devices in educative process shared their ways of working with them, and highlighted some key advantages. Discovering Mobi The Mobi mobile interactive whiteboards are developed by eInstruction, and can totally replace a fixed interactive whiteboard, or be used in a complementary manner. Indeed, as a high school teacher from Rouen stated: "The Mobi can totally replace the whiteboard when teaching or training. It requires no special equipment to be fitted in the room, and can be used with any projector for a presentation or interactive lessons. " In order to help student concentration levels and in turn help them to understand and succeed, teachers can distribute up to nine Mobi Learner student-orientated devices at the same time. This means that Mobi offers the possibility for students to directly influence during the lesson, whether individually or in groups, contributing in turns or offering input simultaneously from the multiple Mobi Learners, straight from their seats. Mobi, as highlighted by several teachers, can work on any type of content with its open design. It can be used during practical work, helping drive the lesson, and allowing various documents made during experiments (such as photos, videos etc.) to be annotated. Contributions from Mobi Several points emerge from speaking with educators: • One of the first advantages is mobility. Teachers can move around the classroom with the Mobi and easily see what the students are doing. It also allows remote access to the board from anywhere in the room. A high school art teacher provided the example of that when his students drew, he could go around and see each one of them with a notebook and make sketches to show and explain some points. Now, with the Mobi, these sketches can benefit the whole class. The possibility to move is important, as a primary teacher supports; being able to see each student, instead of staying at the board.   • 2. • For students, it is both the options for collaboration and participation that have been cited as benefits of using the Mobi. A primary teacher indicated that it also develops students’ socialisation skills by teaching them to work with each other. In addition, they participated more in lessons and took part in more activities. Alongside this, the ability to have multiple users at the same time introduces a notion of individualised work. For this primary teacher, using the Mobi helps different activities to be run with students simultaneously and it also promotes concentration. It has also been observed in the classroom that students take more initiative in the learning process; they learn to organise their work themselves, having a great sense of autonomy. • In terms of pedagogy and concerning the processing of information, students now have easier access to information and can learn how to categorise it. In addition, Mobi can quickly process errors and explain these. • Finally, from an economic point of view, the range of mobile interactive whiteboards can be easily used with already existing class configurations, including those that already have a projector. In this way, Mobi provides access to the same features as a fixed interactive whiteboard, but at a fraction of the cost.
