Introduction
Based on the deep spiritual traditions of the Schoenstatt Movement, "Camino 179" is a
meaningful spiritual journey that draws inspiration from the core values of Schoenstatt
spirituality. This path is crafted for individuals who aspire to embody the teachings of Jesus
Christ by following the example set by Mother Mary, embracing a spirituality that is both
modern and practical.
At the core of "Camino 179" lies the Covenant of Love with Mary, mirroring Schoenstatt's
founding principles rooted in a mutual covenant of love similar to God's covenant with humanity
as depicted in the Bible. Participants are encouraged to strengthen their personal connection with
God and Mary, nurturing a faith in Divine Providence that influences all aspects of their daily
lives. This covenant deepens the bond between individuals and divinity, guiding each step taken
on this journey with a sincere love for God and a dedication to holiness amidst contemporary
challenges.
The path of "Camino 179" is further enlightened by an ethos of instrumentality, urging
participants to offer themselves as vessels for expressing God's love and purpose. Through this
approach, every member becomes a tangible embodiment of Christ's redemptive mission in
society, actively contributing to the revitalization of both the Church and community through
values rooted in Gospel teachings.
"Camino 179" promotes the concept of everyday holiness, encouraging a lifestyle that blends
faith with daily activities. In alignment with Father Kentenich's vision, this journey underscores
the significance of infusing ordinary tasks with extraordinary devotion, reflecting God's love and
grace in each moment and interaction.
As a spiritual community, members of "Camino 179" draw strength from their unity and shared
devotion to Mary as the Mother Thrice Admirable, Queen and Victress of Schoenstatt. Together,
they explore the transformative influence of the Schoenstatt Shrine as a sanctuary for grace and
spiritual rejuvenation, drawing inspiration from decades of blessings and growth within the
Schoenstatt Movement.
At its core, "Camino 179" serves as a summons to deepen one's spiritual commitment, urging all
participants to shape the world from within through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This journey
is not merely a pursuit of personal sanctity but a mission to ignite God's love in all hearts, so that
Christian individuals freely make choices, take initiative and embrace their calling with joy and
accountability.

Significance of “179”
● 1: Unity and Primacy
In biblical terms, the number "1" signifies unity and the primacy of God. It represents the
oneness of God in monotheistic faiths (Deuteronomy 6:4), and the unity of believers with Christ
(John 17:21-23). It can symbolize the beginning, the first, the primary source from which all
things emanate.
● 7: Completion and Perfection
The number "7" is one of the most significant numbers in the Bible, symbolizing
completeness and perfection. It appears frequently, such as in the creation week in Genesis 1,
where God rested on the seventh day, sanctifying it as a day of rest for all people (Genesis 2:2-3).
It represents the fullness of time and creation, a cycle of completeness, and is often used in
contexts that suggest divine perfection or wholeness.
● 9: Divine Completeness and the Fruits of the Spirit
The number "9" is associated with divine completeness and finality. It is also linked to
the fruits of the Holy Spirit, of which there are nine: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). This number can
symbolize the fullness of God's gifts to believers and the completeness of His divine expression
in the world.
Combined Meaning of “179”
When combining the meanings of 1, 7, and 9, "Camino 179" symbolizes a journey
towards experiencing the unity with God (1), achieving spiritual completeness and embracing the
perfection found in God's creation (7), and living out the fullness of the fruits of the Spirit (9).
This path, therefore, starts from the acknowledgment of the one true God, moves through a
process of embracing divine completeness and perfection, and culminates in embodying the
fullness of the Spirit's fruits in one's life.
"Camino 179" is not just a path but a comprehensive journey towards spiritual maturity,
encompassing unity with the divine, completeness in our spiritual practice, and the embodiment
of the fruits of the Spirit. It invites believers to embark on a transformative journey that
integrates these foundational aspects of Christian faith, aiming for a life that fully reflects the
glory and grace of God.

  • 1. Adapted from “Pioneros de Schoenstatt: El Camino” CAMINO 179 18/10/2003 1
  • 2. Adapted from “Pioneros de Schoenstatt: El Camino” Introduction Based on the deep spiritual traditions of the Schoenstatt Movement, "Camino 179" is a meaningful spiritual journey that draws inspiration from the core values of Schoenstatt spirituality. This path is crafted for individuals who aspire to embody the teachings of Jesus Christ by following the example set by Mother Mary, embracing a spirituality that is both modern and practical. At the core of "Camino 179" lies the Covenant of Love with Mary, mirroring Schoenstatt's founding principles rooted in a mutual covenant of love similar to God's covenant with humanity as depicted in the Bible. Participants are encouraged to strengthen their personal connection with God and Mary, nurturing a faith in Divine Providence that influences all aspects of their daily lives. This covenant deepens the bond between individuals and divinity, guiding each step taken on this journey with a sincere love for God and a dedication to holiness amidst contemporary challenges. The path of "Camino 179" is further enlightened by an ethos of instrumentality, urging participants to offer themselves as vessels for expressing God's love and purpose. Through this approach, every member becomes a tangible embodiment of Christ's redemptive mission in society, actively contributing to the revitalization of both the Church and community through values rooted in Gospel teachings. "Camino 179" promotes the concept of everyday holiness, encouraging a lifestyle that blends faith with daily activities. In alignment with Father Kentenich's vision, this journey underscores the significance of infusing ordinary tasks with extraordinary devotion, reflecting God's love and grace in each moment and interaction. As a spiritual community, members of "Camino 179" draw strength from their unity and shared devotion to Mary as the Mother Thrice Admirable, Queen and Victress of Schoenstatt. Together, they explore the transformative influence of the Schoenstatt Shrine as a sanctuary for grace and spiritual rejuvenation, drawing inspiration from decades of blessings and growth within the Schoenstatt Movement. At its core, "Camino 179" serves as a summons to deepen one's spiritual commitment, urging all participants to shape the world from within through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This journey is not merely a pursuit of personal sanctity but a mission to ignite God's love in all hearts, so that Christian individuals freely make choices, take initiative and embrace their calling with joy and accountability. 2
  • 3. Adapted from “Pioneros de Schoenstatt: El Camino” Significance of “179” ● 1: Unity and Primacy In biblical terms, the number "1" signifies unity and the primacy of God. It represents the oneness of God in monotheistic faiths (Deuteronomy 6:4), and the unity of believers with Christ (John 17:21-23). It can symbolize the beginning, the first, the primary source from which all things emanate. ● 7: Completion and Perfection The number "7" is one of the most significant numbers in the Bible, symbolizing completeness and perfection. It appears frequently, such as in the creation week in Genesis 1, where God rested on the seventh day, sanctifying it as a day of rest for all people (Genesis 2:2-3). It represents the fullness of time and creation, a cycle of completeness, and is often used in contexts that suggest divine perfection or wholeness. ● 9: Divine Completeness and the Fruits of the Spirit The number "9" is associated with divine completeness and finality. It is also linked to the fruits of the Holy Spirit, of which there are nine: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
