En 1892, de la tipografía de la Academia de Ciencias de San Petersburgo salía la mejor y más cuidadosa antología de máximas talmúdicas referentes a Cristo y los cristianos. Su autor era Mons. I. B. Pranaitis, titular de la cátedra de hebreo de la Universidad Imperial y tenía por título: "Christianus in Talmude Judaeorum, sive Rabbinicae doctrinae de christianis secreta". (El
cristiano en el Talmud de los judíos, o los secretos de la enseñanza rabínica acerca de los cristianos). El libro llevaba, el texto hebreo de las prescripciones rabínicas con su traducción en latín. Pero los ejemplares des aparecieron casi completamente. Sólo algunos pocos se salva ron. Con uno de éstos publicó una edición fotocopiada Mario de Bagni, con la correspondiente traducción italiana. De esa edición aparecida en los Editores Tunminelli y Cía., Milán, Roma, 1939, hemos podido hacer uso para este nuestro libro.
La invención de la Imprenta ,favoreció la difusión del Talmud:La primera versión de éste conteniendo todas las blasfemias contra los cristianos ,fué publicada en Venecia en 1523.
A finales del siglo 16,muchos hombres estudiosos del Talmud ,temiendo por sí mismos expurgaron las partes del Talmud ,hostiles a los cristianos, de las versiones destinadas a imprenta.En un Sínodo en Polonia en 1631,los Rabínos de Alemania y de otros países ,declararon que nada que pudiese molestar a los cristianos ,y ser un motivo de persecución para Israel debía imprimirse .Con tal motivo existen indicios en los libros judíos faltan muchas cosas que luego fueron publicadas a partir del siguiente siglo.Los Rabinos explican de memoria el significado de estas cosas ,por cuanto ellos poseen los libros auténticos,que los cristianos raramente pueden ver.
No obstante los libros judíos fueron publicados posteriormente en Holanda (país que recibió generosamente a los judíos expulsados de España)con muy pocas modificaciones.El Talmud que se publicó allí (1664-1648) es similar a la versión veneciana.
