Chef Brahim Hadj-Moussa of the Barbary Fig restaurant will join People Serving People, a homeless shelter in Minneapolis, to cook a prix fixe meal for their Chefs for Change event on April 20th. Tickets for the Mediterranean-inspired dinner are $75 with proceeds benefiting People Serving People. People Serving People provides housing and support for over 300 homeless guests each night, two-thirds of whom are children.
On March 8th, 2010 homeless children staying at People Serving People shelter will receive free dental cleanings and checkups from Children's Dental Services. Oral healthcare is important for children's overall health and well-being, but many low-income families cannot afford it. When Children's Dental Services last visited the shelter, they were able to provide dental care to an entire family at once. People Serving People and Children's Dental Services work together to help homeless children get access to important healthcare services.
