structure
Consideration
oConsideration is the extent to which a leader exhibits
concern for the welfare of the members of the group. This
factor is oriented towards interpersonal relationships,
mutual trust and friendship.
o This leadership style is : People-
oriented
 Friendliness
 Mutual trust
Respect
 supportiveness
 openness
 concern for the welfare of employees.
o Initaiting structure is the extent to wich a leader defines
his and the group member’s roles, initaites actions,
organizes group activities and defines how tasks are to be
accomblished by the group.
Initiating structure
o This leadership style is :
Task-Oriented
 Letting group members know what is expected
of them ;
 Maintaining definite standards of performance ;
 scheduling the work to be done ;
 asking that group members must follow the
standard rules & regulations …
Initiating Structure
Task Oriented
Letting groupe members
know what is expected from
them
Fixed standards
Consideration
People Oriented
Often helps people under you
with their personal problems
Wilingness to change
Both initiating and consideration are important for
successful leading teams without initaiting structure
behavior , subordinates what is expected how to coordinate
their work with others .
Like wise lack of considiration behavior from the leader
may leave employees feeling unsupportive , unrecognized or
confused as they try to navigate conflictes issues in their
roles without any sense of feed back how they are doing
 In each quadrant, there is a relative mixture of initiating structure and
consideration and a manager can adopt any one style.
