David Smith from Revolution Analytics presented on Revolution R Enterprise, a commercial product that enhances the open-source R statistical computing language. Revolution R Enterprise provides high performance analytics, easier application development, and enterprise deployment features. It allows scaling R from desktop to big data through distributed computing capabilities. The presentation discussed Revolution R Enterprise's performance enhancements, productivity tools, and support for enterprise deployments.
Is Revolution R Enterprise Faster than SAS? Benchmarking Results RevealedRevolution Analytics
RRE provides faster analytic processing times than SAS for a variety of tasks on the same hardware environment and large datasets. RRE was 42 times faster than SAS 9.4 in completing 10 analytic tasks on a dataset with 5 million rows. Processing times for RRE remained consistent as dataset sizes increased from 1 to 5 million rows, demonstrating linear scalability. RRE completion times ranged from 19 to 351 times faster than SAS for individual analytic tasks like descriptive statistics, frequencies, linear and logistic regression using the same data. The speed advantages of RRE come from its use of multi-threaded and distributed processing capabilities, while most SAS procedures are single-threaded.

The document discusses the results of a study on the effects of exercise on memory and thinking abilities in older adults. The study found that regular exercise can help reduce the decline in thinking abilities that often occurs with age. Specifically, older adults who exercised regularly performed better on tests of memory and decision-making than those who did not exercise regularly.
The document is a storyboard for a film showing a journey through various locations in Holborn, London. Over 12 pages, the storyboard utilizes a moving camera to depict shots inside trains and stations, various businesses and establishments like a coffee shop, law offices, markets, restaurants, a jewelry academy, gym, hotel, bars and table tennis venue. It concludes with the camera stopping at the 120 Holborn building signage.

The document provides a storyboard for a film called "The Kite" that depicts aerial shots overlooking an area called Winnersh Triangle from different angles. It then shows scenes within Winnersh of a kite passing by or being reflected in windows of various locations like a car on the motorway, a train station, an office, a delivery van, between buildings where a couple eats lunch, a gym, outside a bistro, a hotel reception, and outside a bar. The storyboard ends by showing the kite landing on a path near buildings 1020 and 1030 before taking off again.
