and R&D posed distinct demands

people in dynamic defense of their points of

extracted from this experience a sense of
security and self-confidence that allowed
them to be selfless

• Giving and reciprocity were strengthened
by the influence of positive expectations
among individuals and areas, confirmed
through fulfillment of commitments.
• The ability to keep people innovating for
long periods and sustain an above average
performance was perceived as a unique
feature of this organization, which
strengthened its social capital and thus
supported the openness to
experimentation.
