Scalability is near infinite, both for performance and storage. A variety of use cases are supported. Your users can store and access semi-structured files as well as curated data sets.

  18. Gary: Linear compute pricing as resources scale. Reserved instances available to reduce costs for always running instances. Demo - Seeing different prices across regions (East vs East 2)
  19. Reeves: credit pricings scales linearly. credits normalize pricing across the cloud providers it can run on top of Pre-purchasing credits in bulk yields discounts On demand provides a cheap and fast way to start projects or test it out
  20. For this exercise, we’ll assume (ADF + Azure Storage) to just compare the equivalent pieces. If you know you’re running 24x7, reserved instances or pre-paid makes more sense to drop these prices further. This might make sense an a global organization where demand is fairly constant around the clock.
  21. Many businesses have peaks and valleys to demand, and then little to no demand overnight or weekends. We’ll dive a bit deeper on auto-start/auto-pause in Snowflake later, but in many use cases it can flip the scale drastically. Compute can be configured to pause when not in use, and restart when in use. This has massive impact on overall costs. Azure can be scheduled via APIs to start and stop at points in time, so you stop spending money when you know you don’t need it running.
