Search is an integral part of everyone’s life today.
People search the Internet for a variety of reasons…
This includes, location search, search for information,
and search for a nearby business.
Also, search has found its way into websites for
internal site search…
Local business search is a growing area of opportunity
and search engines are building new technological
capabilities to tap into this area – primarily voice-led
Microsoft Windows was one of the earliest to integrate
voice into their software device. They integrated speech
recognition into MS Office in 2002
In May, 2016, Bing estimated that 25% of searches
performed on Windows 10 were voice searches.
In 2011, Apple introduced “Siri” - a digital
personal assistant
In 2008, Google launched the voice search app for iPhone,
bringing speech recognition to mobile phones.
In 2014, Microsoft introduced “Cortana”
– a digital assistant similar to Siri.
Today, voice recognition is integrated to
different device types – including desktops,
laptops, mobile and tablet devices.
