What is calculus?
■The word Calculus comes from Latin
meaning "small stone“. Because it is like
understanding something by looking at small
pieces.
■Calculus originally meant “mathematics”.
■Derived from the Latin “calx” (counter) –
ancient Babylonians would use pebbles to
represent units, tens, hundreds, etc, on a
primitive abacus.
■Later, defined as measuring varying rates of
change.
■Differential Calculus: Cuts something
into small pieces to find how it changes.
■Integral Calculus: Joins (integrates) the
small pieces together to find how much
there is.
Types of Calculus
■Indefinite integrals
■Definite integrals
■Improper integrals
■Double integrals
■Triple integrals etc

■Businesses today use several applications and require
them to be integrated so that business processes as a
whole, perform seamlessly. However application
integration solutions are often processes themselves and
take long to implement.

Calculus is Everywhere
The differentiation integration of calculus have
many real-world applications from sports to
engineering to astronomy
and space travel
 -Archimedes is the founder of surface areas and
volumes of solids such as the sphere and the cone.
His integration method was very modern since he
did not have algebra, or the decimal representation
of numbers
 -Gauss was the first to make graphs of integrals,
and with others continued to apply integrals in the
mathematical and physical sciences.
 -Leibniz and Newton discovered calculus and
found that differentiation and integration undo
each other
History of Integration
 Integration initially developed for better
navigation system.
 Engineers use Integration for building
skyscrapers , bridges.
 In robotics Integration is used how robotic parts
will work on given command.
 Electrical and Computer engineers use
Integration for system designing
 Integration is used to improve safety of vehicles.
Integration in The Engineering Field
 Isaac Newton developed the use of calculus in
his laws of motion and gravitation.

 Astronomical science deeply depend on calculus.
 Space technology use calculus in many ways.
 Calculus is used to build tracks.
Integration in Science
 To study the interaction of different species within an
ecosystem Integration is used.
 The concentration of drugs in a living organism can be
answered with calculus (Integration ).
 Physical attributes, such as backbone length and skull
length measured by Integration .
 Integration is used for measuring growth rate of bacteria
and certain species.
Integration in Biology
 Functions and derivatives of calculus are relate
to relevant concepts in economics.
 Economic research uses Integration functional
relationships , relation of income , market
prediction etc.
 Integration is used to find optimum solutions of
economics.
 Integration also used for max efficiency or
products or to minimize their costs.
 Credit card companies use Integration for
monthly payments.
Integration in Economics
 Business and politicians often conduct surveys
with the help of Integration.
 Investment plans do not pass before
mathematicians approves.
 Doctors often use Integration in the estimation of
the progression of the illness.
 Global mapping is done with the help of
Integration
 Integration also used to solve paradoxes.
Integration in Other Fields
■The concept of Very-large-scale integration (VLSI) is the
part of semiconductor and communication technologies.
It is integrated circuits on a single chip. It is the first
semiconductor chips that held one transistor. The
microprocessor is a VLSI device. It involves
implementation and designing of circuits. It provides
computational speed with minimum power dissipation
and circuit board area. This paper covered the evolution of
VLSI design concepts and methodologies used such as
future challenges, fabrication process, limitations, and
some applications.
