This document evaluates the Egyptian code provisions for seismic design of education buildings. It analyzes a 5-story school building designed before and after the 1992 Egyptian earthquake using linear static analysis methods from the Egyptian code and nonlinear time history analysis. The results show that the base shear calculated from the Egyptian code is higher than required, due to increased soil factors. Demand curvatures from linear static analysis before and after the earthquake are similar. The old building, designed only for gravity loads, had structural deficiencies that would lead to collapse in an earthquake, while the new building designed after the earthquake better resists seismic forces.
The author studied molecular biology and related fields during their PhD at IIT Kharagpur. Their thesis involved cloning and sequencing genes from the Antheraea mylitta cytoplasmic polyhedrosis virus genome. Techniques learned included virus isolation, cDNA synthesis, cloning genes into vectors, DNA sequencing, and bioinformatics analysis. Recombinant viral proteins were overexpressed in bacteria and insect cells but were insoluble, requiring troubleshooting. Proteins were purified using chromatography and polyclonal antibodies were raised. Functional assays using radioactivity, western blot, transcription, and colorimetry led to two publications. During postdoctoral work, the author further studied techniques like western blot, immunoprecipitation, and siRNA knockdown

Design and analysis of drive shaft for heavy duty truckeSAT Journals
Abstract
Drive shafts in commercial heavy duty vehicle are subjected to cyclic loads due to variation in the torque demanded by the
varying road loads. Cases of failure of the drive shaft of heavy duty trucks have been reported, which provides an opportunity to
investigate the issue.
In this project an attempt has been made on prediction of fatigue life of the drive shaft using FEA technique. The load spectrum
acting on the drive shaft is calculated for specified terrain. Structural analysis was carried out on the FE model of drive shaft, and
potential areas of high stress concentration are obtained. Von Mises stress, fatigue damage, fatigue life, factor of safety and total
deformation are the results of fatigue analysis.
It was observed that from the static analysis that the roots of the splines are the areas of high stress concentration. The fatigue
analysis revels that the drive shaft fails in the region of high stress concentration as expected. The fatigue life of the component is
found to be infinite for design pay load. The life of the drive shaft for 40% and 50% over load is 69806 kilometers and 20564
kilometers respectively. The present work can be used in automobile industry as a reference for predicting life of any component,
in the drive line of the automobile subjected to non constant amplitude loading.

This document provides an evaluation of the evidence for how culture contributes to regeneration across economic, social, and environmental domains. It finds that while evidence gathering is still developing, there is a substantial and diverse body of evidence that cultural activities can positively contribute to regeneration initiatives. The evidence comes in various forms, from statistical analyses to case studies to common sense observations. Overall the document concludes that with quality cultural work and good judgment, cultural activities can provide advantages to regeneration when implemented appropriately. It identifies areas where the evidence base could be strengthened, such as distinguishing between numerical and perceived impacts and assessing what conditions lead to successful cultural projects.
