Cisco IOS Release 12.0(5)XP supports the 2900 and 3500 XL switches. These switches can be deployed in various configurations, including as backbone switches connecting Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and ATM devices, or in mixed configurations connecting hubs, servers, and desktops. The release supports clustering of up to 16 switches managed through a single IP address, as well as stacking of up to 5 switches. Key features include automatic cluster/stack creation, RMON support, VLAN support, Spanning Tree Protocol, and EtherChannel support. Deployment examples provided are for enterprise workgroup aggregation and small-to-medium business workgroup aggregation.
