Editor's Notes

  • #21 Given the use of a wide range of different technologies at Groupon, the engineering folks there found that Docker was a great solution for standardizing their build and delivery pipelines. Docker gives them the ability to consolidate tooling around shipping containers whether the applications are written in Ruby, Java, Node, etc. On top of that, it will be a critical component in their efforts to shift their production architecture from host or vm driven to application or process driven. By launching and managing containers across distributed compute clusters, they can more efficiently allocate resources in their datacenters
