#Elasticity Pdf Doku

  1. 1. NATURAL RESOURCES, AND THE ECOSYSTEMS THAT PROVIDE THEM, UNDERPIN OUR ECONOMIC ACTIVITY, OUR QUALITY OF LIFE AND OUR SOSIAL COHESION “THERE ARE NO ECONOMIES WITHOUT ENVIRONMENTS, BUT THERE ARE ENVIRONMENTS WITHOUT ECONOMIES” AS TRADITIONAL PEOPLES HAVE LONG UNDERSTOOD, WE MUST ULTIMATELY ANSWER TO NATURE, FOR THE SIMPLE REASON THAT NATURE HAS LIMITS AND RULES OF ITS OWN ALREADY WE SEE CONFLICTS CAUSED BY COMPETITION FOR BIODIVERCITY RESOURCES AND ECOSYSTEM SERVICES (WBGU 2008)
  2. 2. IN THE LAST 300 YEARS THE GLOBAL FOREST AERA HAS SHRUNK BY APPROX 40% FORESTS HAS COMPLETELY DISSAPEARED IN 25 COUNTRIES ANOTHER 29 COUNTRIES HAVE LOST MORE THAN 90% OF THEIR FOREST COVER SINCE 1900, THE WORLD HAS LOST ABOUT 50% OF ITS WETLANDS APPROX 30% OF CORAL REEFS , WITH HIGHER LEVELS OF BIODIVERSITY THAN TROPICAL FOR- ESTS, HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY DAMAGED THROUGH FISHING, POLLUTION, DISEASE AND CORAL BLEACHING IN THE PAST TWO DECADES 35% OF MANGROVES HAVE DISSAPARED SOME COUNTRIES HAVE LOST UP TO 80% THROUGH CONVERSION FOR AGRICULTURE, OVER EXPLOITATION AND STORMS THE HUMAN-CAUSED (ANTRHOPOGENIC) RATE OF SPECIES EXTINCTIONS IS ESTIMATED TO BE 1000 TIMES MORE RAPID THAN THE “NATURAL” RATE OG EXTINCTION TYPICAL OF EARTHS LONG-THERM HISTORY
  3. 3. HOW DO WE SET THE VALUE OF OUR LAND? THE TASK I HAD GIVEN MYSELF TURNED OUT MORE COMPLEX THAN I HAD FIRST IMAGENED THE VARIABLES ARE MANY AND THE POTENTIAL FUTURE ADVANTAGES COMPLEX PRODUCTION : FOOD,FIBRES,MEDICINE,TIMBER,FUELS CLEANSING OF SURFACE WATER CLEANSING OF AIR CO2 BINDING CLIMATIC PROTECTION : WIND PROTECTION/FLATTENING OF TEMPERATURE CURVES COMPOSTING SOIL PROTECTION HABITATS/BIODIVERSITY WHEN ENERGY PRICES RISES, PRICE FOR FOOD AND CLEAN WATER ETC WILL RISE HOW WILL NATURAL SYSTEMS SUPPORTING THIS BE VALUED? POTENTIAL ECONOMIC VALUATION IN THE FUTURE THINKING GREEN STRUCTURES IN CITY PLANNING IS TO INVEST IN FUTURE NATURAL ECONOMICALLY /ENERGY EFFICIENT SOLUTIONS 50% OF MALMØ IS HARD SURFACES : BUILDINGS WITHOUT GREEN ROOFING, HARD FLOORS IN MALMØ´S GREEN PLAN THEY WANT TO INCREASE GREEN AREA FROM 33M2 PR INHAB. TO 48M2 FOR THIS THEY HAVE A STRATEGY
  4. 4. LOOKING INTO THE GREEN PLAN OF MALMØ AERAL DISPOTION AND DEVELOPING FOR NATURE-SERVICE TO TAKE PLACE THROUGH ECOSYSTEMS AND BIOTOPES

  10. 10. MISSING // GREENERY SHOWS MISSING ACCESABLE GREEN AERAS FOR INHABITANTS ACCORDING TO GOALS SET IN THE GREEN PLAN WHERE : WHITE INDICATES SATISFYING CONDITIONS AND GREEN AERAS WITHIN RANGE OF HOME WITH NONE UNDERCATEGORIES MISSING : RED INDICATES NOT SATISFYING CONDITIONS WITH 5 UNDERCATEGORIES MISSING Gröning (0,2-1 hektar, max 300 meter från bostad) Grannskapspark (1-5 hektar, max 500 meter från bostad) Stadsdelspark (5-10 hektar, max 1 kilometer från bostad) Stadspark (>10 hektar, max 2 kilometer från bostad) Större natur- och rekreationsområde (>35 hektar, max 3 km från bostad) Brist på 2 underkategorier
