  • 1997-2000: Volunteers and staff digitize photos in collection 2004 to present : Photo grants from the County of Sonoma; digitization by Backstage Library Works (2004-2010) and Luna Imaging (2010-present) 2008: Photos in HIP 2009-2010 : SC Archives site developed 2010-2011 : WL Califa grant for Sonoma County Visionaries, Immigrants and Winemakers Collection , now part of Online Archive of California (California Digital Library); Sonoma County grant for additional digitization, software -- CONTENTdm, equipment and support, including an archival server to store all digital files 2011 : conversion of existing photo records started 2012 : With Archives site in place, remainder of the SCL digital universe launched with Sonoma Heritage Collections, conceived as part of the upcoming Digital Branch. Includes various pieces, including blogs, social media (YouTube, Flickr, Twitter and FB) and a collection on Internet Archive
  • Traffic encouraged between different parts by: Links everywhere Content pushed everywhere
  • Even with minimal publicity, people are finding our projects. For August, approximately 1100 unique page views/month the SHC 475 for history blog 873 for Archives No tracking data for other parts currently
  • Collections on SHC Platform for discovery and display of photographs (1/2 of Library’s collection), graphics and maps, digitized print materials (1/2 WL pre-1923 materials), video, audio Accessible by keyword, browse or by SHC theme Enhanced by Google Maps and other external content Currently 13 collections, ranging from the general SCL Library Photograph Collection to the Biblioteca Vinaria Sonoma and Speaking of Wine Examples – ( Sonoma County Visionaries, Immigrants and Winemakers Collection ) Alpine Winery ""this is our battlefield"--long live Alpine Califa grant That "Little Old Winemaker" of the Italian Swiss Colony Califa grant (SCL Library Photograph Coll.)   • SHC Additional content to current collections, including remainder of existing photos from catalog New collections, including video and audio, and partnerships SC Archives Accession sheet integration Finding aid enhancements – data from accession sheets and add abstracts Add SCL archival collections Additional blogs Funding Grant funded so far – will be seeking additional grants or other $$ to go forward, incl. 3rd yr. CONTENTdm vs. open source – we own the data Q : Is this taking away from other cataloging or projects? A : No! We are continuing to do everything – adding digital project work and enhancing where we can fit it in. [change in cataloging from MARC to metadata]
