Students at Riverview Elementary in Farmington, Minnesota have a new Science Lab. School Board members recently toured the lab, meeting the critters and learning about the benefits of such a lab from teachers Cinda Current and Rachel Olson.

Riverview Science Lab

  1. 1. Riverview Elementary has established a Science Labfor students, a project which was aided by a grant from the Farmington Area Education Foundation.
  2. 2. Riverview teachers Rachael Olson and Cinda Currentintroduced school board members to the lab the first week of school. Brian Treakle and Tim Burke learned about “Bud” a Miniature Russian Turtle.

  4. 4. Brian Treakle gets an up close encounter with “Tilly”, a Blue Tongued Skink.
  5. 5. “Tilly” found a new friend with Tim Burke. Students are ableto interact with these creatures in similar ways.
  6. 6. Cinda Current introduced “Tilly” to Farmington Board Member Melissa Sauser.
  7. 7. The lab includes a number of creatures including insects and snakes. All are safe for even the youngest of learners.

  10. 10. “Maiz” the Corn Snake is comfortable at home! Note the snakeskin that was shed on the countertop.
