  4. 4. 3 Demonstrator ETAP How did we arrive at the concept definition and realization of our demonstrator? • Information from the market about early failures of competition LED products in hazardous environments like car parks. • Results of corrosion tests (car park environment) on PCB’s executed by OUT, one of the CYCLED partners, with as result : Corrosion at solder pads close to the LED (unsealed)

  7. 7. 6 Demonstrator ETAP How did we arrive at the concept definition and realization of our demonstrator? • For industrialization reasons decision made to make the luminaire itself gastight. • Therefore the luminaire can be used in hazardous environments such as : • general industry • warehouse freezers • chemical industry • agricultural & food industry • work stations • sheds • garages • warehouses • cellars
  8. 8. 7 Demonstrator ETAP What did we achieve on technical & ecological level in the product design? • Reached a competitive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) : • Where the Energy efficiency < 1,3 W/m²/100 lux • Used as little material as possible • Used as much as possible recyclable materials (84%), like aluminium • Integrated movement detectors, daylight sensors and emergency lighting • Increased lifetime by • Optimal thermal management • Protecting LEDs from hazardous gasses / corrosion protection
