XMSS LESSON PLAN TEMPLATE: Using ICT in Teaching and Learning 2010 SUBJECT AREA: Geography GRADE LEVEL: Secondary 1 Name of Teacher: Norhuda Maksum LESSON TITLE: Crustal Movements, Distribution of TIME ALLOTTED: 3 hours volcanoes Hand in Hand: LESSON DESCRIPTION: (Write a concise description of what occurs in this lesson.) Before this lesson, students have been exposed to Google Earth software to experiment with (for chapter: Weather and Climate). As understood our computer labs do not have the graphic capacity to download Google Earth software, students have to do half of the learning at home, and half during this lesson, using Glogster to summarize their findings. Teacher would have sent two layers (kmz format) to students: 1) Tectonic Plates and 2) Volcanoes of the World Students are to activate these two layers in their Google Earth software and choose two plates that would aid in their learning to understand the relationship between crustal movements and distribution of volcanoes. Students will have to print screen the chosen plates they want to explain on, save the files and send it to their own personal email. In this lesson, students will be introduced to Glogster and its features. Students will summarize their findings of the relationship between crustal movements and distribution of volcanoes using Glogster, where students can attach the images from Google Earth and explain their findings, explain the possible reasons and elaborate on the processes based on the content that they have learnt from normal lessons. Students are to send their relevant files to teacher at the end of 3 hours compilation. CLASSROOM LAYOUT AND GROUPING OF STUDENTS: (Where will the learning take place?
