The call for outline proposals will open later on this year. HSR expression of interest call Invitation to tender for the contracts to undertake Technology Assessment Reviews (TARS) on behalf of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) You are hereby invited by the Secretary of State for Health to tender for the provision of Technology Assessment Reviews (TARs). Costs can be no more than £100k in total and a maximum of 75% funding is available.   2. 2. The DH Policy Research Programme (PRP) invites proposals to assess the potential for the use of routinely collected PROMs in the management of long- term conditions (LTCs). PROMs will be collected routinely for a number of elective surgical procedures from April 2009 as part of the NHS standard acute services contract. The evaluation of the LTC PROMs pilot will provide lessons regarding the acceptability of the pilot system including factors associated with response and equality issues, effective communication of results to stakeholders and cost estimates for scaling-up the pilot system. Post-Doctoral level - The fellowship provides a competitive personal salary, up to Specialist Registrar but not including NHS consultant level, research expenses, and travel costs at an appropriate level for the research, under Full Economic costs (fEC). Salary for the applicant may be requested. All non-clinical fellows are eligible for an additional fixed salary supplement of £3,000 per annum. The awards are full-time but can, in exceptional circumstances, be tenable on a part-time basis if a case can be made that personal circumstances require this. Fellowships provide a salary, plus appropriate employer's contributions. Essential research expenses, including travel and fieldwork, are available, as is a set amount for travel to conferences, seminars and other meetings of a scholarly nature. As a condition of the award, we may stipulate that the grantholder attends specific workshops or summer schools in relevant research methods. The exact amount of funding is unspecified Closing date: 19 July 2009 Duration: 1 year - 3 years MRC - Medical Research Council Skills Gap Awards The Research Councils contribution to start-up costs will be up to 100 per cent FEC value of £312,500 (i.e. awards will be made at 80 per cent value to a cost in the region of £250,000) over 1-3 years in most cases. Exceptionally, more senior roles may be considered case by case. Co-funding from industry partners will be welcomed. Payments are made in three annual instalments, payable in September of each year. ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council) Research Grant Linked Studentships Studentships are not costed under FEC arrangements, but if awarded, the grant will meet the full 100% cost of the normal provision for these. For Large grants (£1.5m-£5m) the cost of any studentship(s) must be costed as part of the £5 million envelope. Stipends may only be paid to students who are normally UK resident or EU students meeting standard ESRC eligibility requirements. Where this is not the case the stipend may not normally be paid. Exceptionally, if it is not possible to obtain a UK-based student, an overseas student could be considered, subject to normal visa and permit requirements. Exceptions to this can be made in specific cases. Please contact the ESRC as early as possible to discuss this. For part-time students the minimum contribution to the relevant outlet is £1,200 per annum.
