I would like to introduce to you the Integrated Computerized Maintenance Management System, or ICMMS.
ICMMS is a joint venture between GE Marquette Medical Systems of Milwaukee, WI and St. Croix Systems of St. Croix Falls, WI.
Every knows GE Marquette, a world-wide leader in the development, sales, and support of patient monitoring and cardiology systems.
More people are learning about St. Croix Systems. St. Croix Systems is a leading developer of innovative and cost-effective software products for Biomedical Engineering, Plant Operations, and other healthcare service professionals for equipment, asset, and technology management.
The following is a brief review of St. Croix Systems and WOSYST. WOSYST was originally developed for a multi-hospital Biomedical Engineering department in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota area. The Plant Operations and Maintenance departments within this hospital system later began using WOSYST as well. WOSYST was first installed in1989. St. Croix Systems was incorporated in Wisconsin in 1993. WOSYST and St. Croix Systems continue with their history of proven performance. St. Croix Systems’ technical support staff, sales support staff, and the lead WOSYST programmer, have a combined average of over 17 years of direct experience in healthcare service management (Biomedical Engineering). St. Croix Systems and the WOSYST software have won the HealthTech Publishing’s 24x7 Readers’ Choice Award the past two consecutive years. In 1999, WOSYST won the award for Best Service Management Software. In 2000, the award was divided in two and WOSYST won for Best Clinical Engineering Management Software.
St. Croix Systems has developed a powerful line of equipment management software products. WOSYST is a very powerful and full featured equipment management system. All other products are designed around WOSYST. Service Requester allows the equipment users to request service from their PCs on the hospital’s Novell or Windows NT network. The user completes a simple electronic request form that is delivered to WOSYST where a work order is created and printed. As the work order is edited, Open Work Order Status codes are sent back to the user to update them on the status of their request for service. WOSYST Portable allows a user to download their entire WOSYST database to a portable computer via a direct network connection. When the user has completed their service, the work order, equipment, and other information is uploaded back into the main WOSYST database. W-Page interfaces with a customer’s current alpha-numeric paging system. Paging may be performed through WOSYST and Service Requester.
WOSYST works with a variety of other products for equipment management. ICMMS interfaces GE Marquette’s patient monitoring equipment with St. Croix Systems’ WOSYST software. The WOSYST Wearable Workstation combines the power of the WOSYST software with the portability of the ViA II Wearable PC Workstation. The ViA II uses Windows 98 and includes a 3.2 GB hard drive and 64 MB of RAM. PIVIT for WOSYST is a very special reporting and graphing software developed by Premise Development Corporation. PIVIT is due for release during the fourth quarter, 2000. The Clarion ReportWriter is a powerful report writing software that directly accesses the WOSYST data. Many WOSYST ReportWriter reports are included with the system purchase. The TopSpeed ODBC software allows users to access WOSYST data for reporting and graphing purposes via another software program such as Microsoft Access.
There are many reasons why WOSYST is a healthcare service professional’s best choice for equipment management software. These reasons include: A powerful schedule table matrix system for preventive maintenance and safety test scheduling . Many powerful and flexible equipment management features. A system designed to be easy to use for the manager, service provider, and secretary/data entry person. A comprehensive reporting system that includes over 155 different report formats for the customer to choose from. St. Croix Systems’ technical support, provided by a staff with a combined average of over 17 years of direct experience in healthcare service management. There is more to technical support than knowing the right button to push. It is understanding what the customer really wants to accomplish and way. Everyone wants value for their money today, especially with Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements so low. St. Croix Systems provides that value with its software and support products. There is then of course ICMMS. Let’s look at the next slides that review this unique and exciting product.
The following is a brief history of how ICMMS came to be. The concept of ICMMS was originally developed by Don Trombatore at Marquette Medical Systems. Marquette performed an extensive evaluation of CMMS software programs currently available at the time. Marquette chose St. Croix Systems, a fellow Wisconsin company, and WOSYST above all the other systems available to partner with. The development of ICMMS began in early 1998. ICMMS was recently released by GE Marquette earlier this year. (2000) ICMMS is a unique product that only GE Marquette and St. Croix Systems can currently provide their customers.
The following is a review of what ICMMS really is. ICMMS is a software program that interfaces: GE Marquette’s Unity network and patient monitoring equipment with St. Croix Systems’ WOSYST software ICMMS is a one-way interface from the Unity network to WOSYST. Using a one-way interface avoided the requirement of FDA approval for this product. GE Marquette’s Octacomm and Octanet system allow other devices, such as ventilators, infusion pumps, etc. to be included on the Unity network and the ICMMS interface. In other words, WOSYST can track the information provided via the Unity network for these devices as well. The development of ICMMS was possible because GE Marquette uses a standard computer network, Windows NT, for the Unity Network. Using a proprietary or limited network would make the development of this type of interface much more difficult, if not impossible. The power of WOSYST was also another major reason ICMMS was possible. In addition to all the features provided, WOSYST also includes the ability to monitor and notify users, via W-Page and W-Mail, with the information provided by ICMMS.
ICMMS includes unique and powerful features for its users. ICMMS can provide the exact location of devices connected to the Unity network. This feature does not currently include Tram modules. It is hoped that the tracking of modules will be included in a future update. ICMMS can provide the number of hours a device has been used. This allows the WOSYST user to schedule these devices based on their actual usage instead of a calendar. Monitors used frequently will receive preventive maintenance more often than those used occasionally. It also allows the BMET to rotate monitors into heavily used areas for even usage and wear. ICMMS can inform the WOSYST user whether a patient is currently admitted or discharged on that monitor. In other words, is there a patient using that monitor. WOW not only refers to what this feature is but the reaction most have when they hear what it will do. The WOW (WOsyst Watch) feature will allow a BMET to set an automatic alarm, that is delivered through W-Page and/or W-Mail, to notify them when a patient is discharged from the monitor and/or the monitor is turned off. This provides the BMET with an opportunity to complete the preventive maintenance on that monitor before another patient is admitted. This can be an extremely useful feature for the BMET who must maintain equipment in a busy Critical Care Unit.
ICMMS provides incredible value to the customer: ICMMS links the proven line of GE Marquette Medical Systems’ patient monitoring equipment with St. Croix Systems’ proven WOSYST equipment management software. The additional equipment management software products that interface with WOSYST. The superior support that is provided by St. Croix Systems’ experienced healthcare service professionals. The ability of a customer to include ICMMS, WOSYST, W-Page, database conversion, and on-site SCS product education with the GE Marquette patient monitoring equipment. A Biomedical Engineering department can upgrade their equipment management software at the same time the critical care unit updates its patient monitoring equipment. In summary, the best hardware, software, and support available.
