Financing and co-financing of forestry from the national budget • Budget covers all expenses for the operation of public forestry services • Public forestry service provides forest owners with all necessary knowledge, advice and free management plans • Budget co-finances forestry measures such as regeneration, tending, forest protection, road maintenance etc.

The Forestry Act – 1993 National Forestry Development Programme -1996 Private forest owners are limited in exploitation of their forests by strict management regulations: • free public access to all forests (recreation, mushroom and berry picking, hunting etc.) • no fencing to protect the property is allowed, • harvesting according to management plans, • no clearfelling, • obligatory individual tree marking with forestry expert.
  10. 10. Forest management in Slovenia The potential felling in forest management plans 2001 – 2010 has been set at the level of: • 61 % of the total increment • 15 % of the growing stock • = 4,1 mil. m3 (gross volume)
