  1. 1.  Easter is always in spring on the Sunday after the first full moon following March 21 . It is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus. This year it was celebrated on April 8th.
  2. 2.  Easter is a christian holiday. Religious people celebrate by going to church. Some cities have small parades, too. In the United States, we only miss one day of school for Easter.
  3. 3.  Many families prepare a large meal on this special day, especially ham dinners. Hot crossed buns are a popular dessert.
  4. 4.  People like to wear new clothes on Easter. Females often wear dresses with floral prints and pretty hats.
  5. 5.  Children color eggs by dipping them in cups of dye. After they color the eggs, they put them in baskets.
  6. 6.  Easter baskets are filled with grass. The grass keeps the eggs from breaking.
  7. 7.  Parents hide the eggs in the backyard. When their children wake up on Easter, they look for the eggs and put them in their Easter baskets.
  8. 8.  Bunnies are baby rabbits. Rabbits and eggs are a sign of new life. The Easter Bunny brings eggs and candy to the children.
  9. 9.  White lilies represent new life. Daffodils are yellow and bright like the sun. Both flowers bloom in the spring.
