  3. 3. About the Author <ul><li>Megan Sierz is currently a student at Grand Valley State University, pursuing a degree in Education with an emphasis in Language Arts. She has an Associates in Arts from the Grand Rapids Community College and has worked at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum for four years. </li></ul>Exit

What is Impressionism? <ul><li>Impressionism is an art style that first appeared in the late 1800’s in Europe </li></ul><ul><li>This style came, in part, as a reaction to the invention of the camera </li></ul><ul><li>Impressionists were influenced by Japanese Art (especially Japanese woodblocks) </li></ul><ul><li>The main goal of Impressionists was to capture the world around them--especially the modern and natural worlds </li></ul><ul><li>Some famous Impressionists are: Claude Monet, Edouard Manet, Mary Cassatt, Pierre Auguste Renoir, and Edgar Degas </li></ul>Exit
