  2. 2. <ul><li>Every Manager engages in some information - handling activities which contributes to an important objective, but which in themselves are: </li></ul><ul><li>Unchallenging </li></ul><ul><li>Repetitive </li></ul><ul><li>Irritating </li></ul><ul><li>Boring </li></ul><ul><li>Tedious </li></ul><ul><li>Such activities which create stress because they are time - consuming but necessary are the ones which are appropriate application of Personal Computer based tools, which I am here to address. The use of Personal Computer based tools is like riding a bicycle, easy, even second nature, once you know-how, but the learning of it wasn't effortless. </li></ul>

  4. 4. WHAT IS A COMPUTER <ul><li>The most obvious question you should ask is, What is a computer? A computer is an electronic device that operates under the control of a set of instructions that is stored in its memory unit. A computer accepts data from an input device and processes it into useful information which it displays on its output device </li></ul>

CLASSIFICATIONS OF COMPUTERS <ul><li>Computers can be classified many different ways -- by size , by function , and/or by processing capacity </li></ul><ul><li>The largest computers are supercomputers are called mainframes . </li></ul><ul><li>Microcomputers can be divided into two groups -- personal computers and workstations </li></ul><ul><li>Another classification of computer is the notebook computer </li></ul><ul><li>The smallest computer is the handheld computer called a personal digital assistant or a PDA . </li></ul>The largest computers are supercomputers . They are the most powerful, the most expensive, and the fastest
