Untitled Presentation

  1. 1. Welcome to Algebra 1! Ms. Shibli
  2. 2. Goals For The Upcoming Schoolyear: Students will extend understanding in: Data Analysis (Statistics) Probability Reasoning Problem Solving Connections (recurring mathematical themes)
  3. 3. 21st Century Standard: Educational Technology: All students will use digital tools to access, manage, evaluate, and synthesize information in order to solve problems individually and collaboratively and to create and communicate knowledge.
  4. 4. One strand of a NJ Standard that will be used in my classroom this schoolyear Technology Operations And Concepts: Construct a spreadsheet, enter data, and use mathematical or logical functions to manipulate data, generate charts and graphs, and interpret the results.
  5. 5. Ahh! Thinking Logically in Math! Students will: Use the internet to calculate certain statistics I assign them to find. Use those statistics to make different types of graphs Be able to read and understand the graphs made
  6. 6. If given a graph like this, students will be expected to interpret the data. X and Y graphs are vital in real world applications!
  7. 7. You're probably thinking, "Who cares bout Graphs?!" Graphs are used everywhere! - Analyzing weather patterns - Analyzing relationships between multiple situations - Analyzing statistics around the world Being able to make and understand graphs is important!
  8. 8. One Step At a Time Your children will learn a lot this year! We will be incorporating technology into a lot of our lessons too! They will be very interactive and hands-on with each lesson! We will also manage to have fun! (Really!)
  9. 9. Keep In Touch! - Parent/Teacher Conferences - Parent's Night - PTA Meetings - Etc.
