Main ObjectiveThe students will be able to demonstrate close reading, as well as critical thinking skills from reading the play Othello. As well as participating in in-class discussions, short writing assignments, observing videos, and a final group project by the end of the week with 97% competency in the Shakespearean play.
Day 1 Intro to the play Students will watch a trailer to the movie Othello. (youtube) Students will then complete a short free-write prompt on revenge.

Day 5 Close Reading activityStudents will be placed in to four groups. Each group will represent a character through twitter creating an account for them. The groups will then paraphrase the text and tweet the dialogue to the other groups.
