  3. 3. *** Mission = Minimize the effects of wounds, injuries, disease, environment , occupational hazards, and psychological stressors on unit effectiveness, readiness, and morale! COMBATANT CDR is responsible for the execution of the FHP mission in his/her AOR. ~~~ Primary Obj.= to protect the health of & provide health service support to US FORCES.

HSS … (C)AN (R)EALLY (F)IX (M)EMBERS with (C)OMFORT and (C)are ! ! ! : ) 1.Conformity Integrate and comply with the commander’s plan. 2.Responsiveness Provide timely access to HSS through proximity or evacuation. 3.Flexibility Shift HSS resources to meet changing requirements. 4.Mobility Anticipate the need for rapid movement of HSS resources to support combat forces during ops. 5.Continuity Provide optimum, uninterrupted care and TX. 6.Coordination Ensure that HSS resources are efficiently employed and used effectively to support the planned operation . . . . .   5. 5. HSS Planning & Coordination Timely, effective planning and coordination are essential to ensure adequate and sustainable HSS in a theater. Proper planning permits a systematic examination of all factors in a projected operation. ORAGANIZATION OF THE HSS is determined by: The joint force’s mission The medical threat Medical intelligence The theater evacuation policy
  6. 6. JFS : ~~responsible for coordinating and integrating HSS within their theater. ~~”Assess component commands’ HSS requirements and capabilities, both Quantitatively and Qualitatively, and provide guidance to enhance the effectiveness of HSS through shared used of assets”

Which is Preferred? •Army aero medical ambulance assets provide patient movement to and from Navy Hospital Ships •INTRATHEATER- coordinated by a (TPMRC) Theater Patient Movement Requirements Center. •Patient movement from the theater is a collaborative effort between TPMRC and GPMRC (Global Patient Movement Reqs Center)

The Medical Estimate Includes an analysis of information pertaining to enemy intentions, allied or coalition partners’ capabilities, courses of action, facts, assumptions ANYTHING THAT CAN AFFECT THE OPERATION. The JFS & component command surgeons plan HSS for the joint force using the medical estimate.
  10. 10. Special Ops Because of its nature, requires small, highly skilled, self-contained teams that can be easily inserted and extracted by AIR, SEA, and LAND delivery methods.
  11. 11. HSS in US Coast Guard Ops Since USCG HSS is limited, it may require some HSS from nearby DOD units USCG helicopters may be utilized in med-evacs for convenience
