Bladder retraining for the treatment of urge incontinence timed voidings pelvic floor (Kegel) exercises relaxation techniques w/retraining offer undergarments Don't ignore urge decrease caffeine drinks diuretics in the morning Specimen Collection Procedures: Urinalysis – random nonsterile specimen –– Explain the procedure. –– Label the container with the client–s identifying information, and follow facility policy for transport and sending specimen to the laboratory. Clean-catch midstream (CCMS) for culture and sensitivity (C&S) –– Teach the technique for obtaining the specimen. –– After thorough cleansing of the urethral meatus, the client –catches– the urine sample midstream. Catheter urine specimen for C&S –– This requires obtaining a sterile specimen from a straight or indwelling catheter using surgical asepsis (sterile technique). Timed urine specimens –– Collect for 24 hr or other prescribed duration. –– Discard the first voiding. –– Collect all other voidings following facility policy on appropriate refrigerated storage, labeling, and transport of the specimen.
