Analysis Paranormal Activity Poster

 2. 2.

I have decided to analyse this Paranormal Activity 3 poster as it is one of the films I am doing my textual analysis on for an element of research and planning.
 3. 3. The poster shows an image of the children asleep with the demon looming in between them. This is a typical horror convention as both of the girls look vulnerable , therefore it is clear that the girls are the victims.
 4. 4. As the audience may have seen the previous films they know what the film involves.
 5. 5. The slogan ‘Discover how the activity began’ automatically tells the audience that this film is going to be a prequel.

The ‘PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3’ title is kept like the original first 2 titles, however the 3 is inserted in the middle, this is to make the 3 stand out and to show that it is the third film as it dominates the title.
 6. 6. The common colours of red and black are used on the poster in which represents a horror film as it connotes blood and death.
 7. 7. The date off the camera is also still included as it makes it more realistic.

I also like how the picture does not take up all of the poster, like regular horror film posters. It makes the text stand out more on the picture therefore the audience can still read the text rather than being distracted by the image.
 8. 8. On the poster the date is quite clear to the audience as it is in bold white capital letters, this is one of the most important parts of the poster as the audience want to know when the film is shown, therefore the producers need to advertise the date appropriately.

The image on the poster is in a blue colour, reflecting a night time look, which makes the characters more vulnerable because they cant help themselves.
 9. 9. The rest of the poster is in black, to echo the genre of horror.

Mise-en-scene
