THE SILENT WHISPER
Production Diary
Monday 11th June 2012:
Today on Monday 11th June our group switched to our final contingency plan
due to uncontrollable circumstances that occurred during our planned
production on Wednesday 6th June. Our contingency plan was successful as it
resulted in our group filming good footage with a mixture of shots to ensure
that our final individual edits had some possible differences in shots.
Throughout the day we as a group achieved a great bin of shots. Today we
also recorded voice-overs that may or may not be needed in the final edit.
Finally after around 2 hours of filming with our new contingency plan we
where able to import all footage to each of our macs enabling us to edit.
Today I have chosen to order my shots into separate bins outlining there
purposes, along with this I have also individually named and sorted through
each individual cut to determine how useful each shot is. I did this by both
deleting unusable cuts and by colour coding each shot in each of my
organized bins to relate to its quality and usability in my final edit.

Through
out my edit during day one I was faced with some problems, which included
lack of storage space on my mac. To overcome this connected my external
hard drive and changed the scratch disk settings to run of my hard drive. This
worked well as it meant I could render, save and store files without the need
to delete other files on the computers hard drive in order to create space for
this project.

effect and create mystery in the audiences mind in terms of the way the
person was killed or ultimately what happens to the person.
Tuesday 12th June 2012:
Today when I went to open up my final edit I was faced with a problem. When
final cut was opened it claimed that the media was offline. To overcome this
issue I simply re – connected my hard drive and re – connected the media
that was offline. After doing so things went smoothly and according to plan.
After placing my organized visual content into the sequence time line I began
matching the visuals with sound that flowed along with the voice-overs our
group recorded yesterday. I found that this went very well as the timing of the
sound matched perfectly to the visuals.
Wednesday 13th June 2012:
Today was relatively easy in terms of editing as all of the shots where lined
perfectly along with the voice-overs. To complete my project I found suitable
sound that flowed nicely with what was going on, on screen and tweaked final
shots. I also chose to add a master template at the start of the project to
create an opening and to label myself as the editor of this piece. I have
enjoyed constructing this edit together and have been able to put my
knowledge into a form of practice.
