  1. 1. CRICKET EQUIPMENTS THE PERSONAL RESOURCE FOR SUCCESS There is no need of introduction to cricket; it is a world famous game. Equipments are meant for the purpose of doing work and it is a tool needed to succeed in particular task. It has become a necessary item in the games. Cricket equipments are necessary for a cricket player to succeed. A player without proper equipments is said to be fool standing in between the crowds. What is the basic equipment needed to play a cricket? The answer for this question is known world wide. Cricket bats and balls are the two basic equipments needed to play that game. They are the precursors of cricket game. In those days bats and balls are made of low quality woods and it was not comfort to the players. Now many varieties of cricket bats and balls are there and they provide comfort to the players in all aspects. Due to technology many new types of equipment came into existence, Stumps and bail sets are the wicket sets in cricket. The wicket consists of three stumps and two bails which is one of the equipments showing the dismissing of a batsman.
  2. 2. Prevention is better than cure. So in any sports prevention is best. Leg guards are worn by batsmen and wicket keeper to protect their shin bone against the impact of ball. Superlite, ultralite and wicket keeper leg guards are the different types of leg guards which are feather weight and provide durability and comfort. Gloves should provide comfort, grip and shock absorption when hitting the ball, it is an essential part of cricket equipments which prevents the players hand from injuries. Cricket batting gloves exists in different types with different features and wicket keeper gloves are also there which slightly differs from the batsmen gloves. Protective gears are the equipments needed for a particular activity and act as safeguarding equipments for the player. Helmet, arm guard(s), chest protector(s), thigh guard(s) and ab guard(s) are the different protective gears which prevent players from being harmed or damaged. “Clothes make the man” is a famous proverb. Cricket players have their own clothing with different colors representing their nation. In test matches all the team players generally wear white pants and shirts. Hats, wrist bands, head bands comes under the category of clothing’s.
  3. 3. Sandals were the footwear in the civilization period, in 1600-1200 bc soft shoes were worn by mountain peoples. Rubber heels shoes were introduce in 1899 by Irish American Humphrey, from that time many varieties of shoes were introduced. Cricket players use spiked cricket shoes to improve their traction. Cricket shoes are generally light weighted and enables fast running. Accessories are said to be an optional part or a fashionable item which is used to enhance a performance and has some fashionable effect. In cricket many varieties of accessories are there to provide some additional performance. Cricket net is an accessory which is used for practice sessions in training period and it helps the player in proper concentration.
  4. 4. Linseed oil is used for cricket bat knocking process and it moistens the surface of the bat and can be used for all types of cricket bats. Like wise many accessories are there to enhance some function, the different accessories in cricket game are coir matting, bat mallet, bat cover, gripping cone, marker cone and spare rubber grips etc.
