2. You’re probably wondering why anyone would tell you to remove yourself from the
largest professional network in the world.
When was the last time you checked it? Are you active? If your profile isn’t up to
date and you are not going to check it than there really is no reason to keep your
LinkedIn around. LinkedIn is for building a network, finding jobs, and socializing on
a professional level online.
3. However if your going to let your LinkedIn go flat and check it once a year or only
when your job hunting than once you have your new job there is no need for it.
4. In reality if you’re not using it to grow you basically just have more of your
personal information out there on the internet. In sales I used it to find the right
person to talk to in a company. Sara Jones might have made her linked in 3 years
ago when she got her new position as VP of Operations at XYZ Incorporated.
Sara’s name was not listed on the company website or on any easily accessible
searches online. However when I searched VP Operations XYZ Incorporated on
LinkedIn I found Sara’s old pictureless out of date profile. Most the time all you
need is a name and now I am going to find and talk to Sara because I have software
that will benefit her
5. Essentially since LinkedIn is a snapshot of your professional self requiring attention.
Used correctly your profile can establish you as an expert in your field. Used
incorrectly it can establish you as a fraud or someone whom is highly inexperienced.
