  3. 3. 1 Dajjal - IntroductionImportant question about the Dajjal a) Who is the Dajjal / al Dajjal ? b) Does the Dajjal exist at present ? c) Has anyone seen him before ? d) What are his attributes ? e) What will cause him to appear ? f) What are the mistaken beliefs concerning him ?Hudhaifa b. UsaidGhifari reported: Allahs Messenger (may peace be upon him) came to us all of asudden as we were (busy in a discussion). He said: What do you discuss about? They (theCompanions) said. We are discussing about the Last Hour. Thereupon he said: It will not come untilyou see ten signs before and (in this connection) he made a mention of the smoke, dajjal, the beast, the rising of the sun from the west, the descent of Jesus son of Mary (Allah be pleased with him),the Gog and Magog, and land-slidings in three places, one in the east, one in the west and one inArabia at the end of which fire would burn forth from the Yemen, and would drive people to theplace of their assembly. (Sahih Muslim, Book #041, Hadith #6931)Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah beupon him) said: “The signs will come one after another, like beads falling from a string”. (TirmidhiHadith, no. 1447, Narrated by al-Tabaraani in al-Mu’jam al-Awsat; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani inSaheeh al-Jaami’)1.1 Method of Knowledge AssimilationIt is not befitting for a muslim to make bold assertions regarding matters which Allah has notexplicitly made known i.e. left such information within the realms of ‘ilm al-ghayb’Ali (R) narrated: ‘Tell the people what they can understand; do you want Allah and His Messenger tobe disbelieved ?’ *Bukhari& Muslim+1.2 ImportanceAbu Zaid (viz. Amr b. Akhtab) reported: Allahs Messenger (may peace be upon him) led us in thedawn prayer and then mounted the pulpit and addressed us until it was (time for the) noon prayer. He then came down the pulpit and observed prayer and then again mounted the pulpit and againaddressed us until it was time for the Asr prayer. He then again came down and observed theprayer and again mounted the pulpit and addressed us until the sun was set and he informed(about) everything (pertaining to turmoil) that lay hidden in the past and what lies in (the womb) of)the future and the most learned amongst us is one who remembers them well (Sahih Muslim, Book#041, Hadith #6913)3|Page
  4. 4. 1.3 Sequence of EventsProphet (saw) said, “There is no fitnah from the time of Adam till the end of time as serious as the fitnah of al-Dajjal [Sahih Muslim]]Narrated by Asma bint Abu Bakr (R), Prophet (saw) said,[part of the hadith] "There is not anything that I have not seen before but I have seennow at this place of mine, even Paradise and Hell. It has been revealed to me that you people will be put to trial nearly like the trial of Ad-dajjal, inyour graves. [Sahih Bukhari, (Book #92, Hadith #390)] Mahdi Isa (A) Prophet 3 Major Landslides / The Smoke / The Hour is Minor Signs The Fire Muhammad (saw) Sun Rises from West / The Beast Established Emergence of al-Dajjal Death of al-Dajjal Ya’juj & Ma’juj4|Page

And the Hour will not be established till thereappear about thirty liars, all of whom will be claiming to be the messengers of Allah. " (SahihBukhari, Book #56, Hadith #806, Sahih Muslim Book #041, Hadith #6988)  Claimed to be prophet after apostating from Islam  He was able to conquer Yemen for three to four monthsAl-Aswad al-Ansi  The Prophet (saw) sent letter to Yemen advising the Muslims there to deal with him forcefully  Was in the Battle of Khandak  Embraced Islam in the 9th year of Hijra  Claimed that he was receiving wahials  NoZakah, less Salah - just stand  He fought muslims on several occasionsTulayhahIbnKhuwaylid  His army abandoned him, based on Hadith of Prophet (saw) fled toal-Asadi Sham as Prophet (saw) said it will be sanctuary during times of Fitnah  Eventually repents, does Hajj & meets Umar (R) there  He eventually returned to Islam  He was martyred at Nahawand  Claimed that revelation came to him in the dark  Abu Bakr (R) sent an army against him led by Khalid bin al-Walid (R),Musaylama al- Ikrimah bin AbiJahl(R) and ShurahbilibnHasanah (R)Kadhdhab  Married Sajah and gave her & her tribe "No Fajr&Isha Salah" as Mahr  Was killed by WahshiibnHarb (R)  She was a Christian Arab woman who claimed to be prophet afterSajah bint al-Harith al- the death of Prophet (saw)Taghlibiyah  She met Musaylamah, believed in his message and married him  She later accepted Islam and died upon it5|Page

  7. 7. 1.6 Al Dajjal 1.6.1 The Mysterious Island :: Narration of Tamim al-DariFatimah-bint-Qais reported, "I heard the proclaimer of Prophet Muhammad proclaiming (for) Congregational Prayer. Iwent to the mosque and prayed with Prophet Muhammad . When he finished his prayer, he sat upon the pulpit smilingand said, Let every man remain in his seat. He then asked, Do you know why I have called you together? They replied,Allah and his Messenger know best. Prophet Muhammad said, By Allah, I have not called you together for hope or forfear, I have called you together because Tamim ad- Dari who was a Christian, came and embraced Islam. He narrated a story to me, which agreed with the account I had given to you about the Dajjal. He informed me that hehad embarked upon a sea-boat with thirty men of Lakhm and Jozam. Then the sea waves tossed them for a month andthrew them on to an island when the sun was about to set. They sat in a small side boat and landed on the Island. Abeast with very coarse hair met them. They could not tell its front from its back due to its excessive hair. They asked,Woe to you! Who areyou?" It replied, I am al-Jassasa. They said: ‘What is al-Jassasa?’. And it said, ‘O People,go to thisman in the monastery, as he is eager to receive the information you bring.’Tamim al-Dari said, When it named a man for us, we fled away from it lest it might be the devil. Then we hurriedly wenton until we entered the monastery and found a big-bodied man whom we had never seen before. He was firmly tied up,his hands tied to his neck, the place between his knees, and joints tied up with iron chains. We asked, Woe to you! What are you? He replied, You will soon come to know about me but tell me about yourselves.” They replied, We arepeople from Arabia, we embarked upon a sea boat, but the sea waves played with us for a month and threw us onto thisisland. A beast with very coarse hair met them. They could not tell its front from its back due to its excessive hair. Theyasked, Woe to you! Who areyou?" It replied, I am al-Jassasa. They said: ‘What is al-Jassasa?’. And it said, ‘O People, goto this man in the monastery, as he is eager to receive the information you bring.’ So we approached you hurriedly. He asked, Tell me about the trees of Baisan. (town in Northern Palestine, near Jordan River, renamed by Israel as BeitShean)Dothey bear fruit?. Yes We replied. He said, Behold! Soon they will not yield fruit. He asked, Inform me of the lake of Tiberias. Is there water in it?(Sea of Galilee in Northern Palestine) We replied, It is fullof water. He informed us, Soon its water will disappear. He then asked, Inform me of the fountain of Zughar.(near the Dead Sea in Palestine) Is there water in it and do itsinhabitants irrigate with the water of the fountain? Yes, it is full of water and its inhabitants irrigate from its water. He asked, Inform me of about the unlettered Prophet; What has he done ? We said, He has just come out of Meccaand gone to Yathrib. He asked, Have the Arabs fought with him? Yes We replied. He asked, How did he treat themWe informed him that he had got the upper hand of those of the Arabs who opposed him and they obeyed him.Thereupon he said to us: “Has it actually happened?” We said: “Yes”.He said, Behold! It is better for them if they obeyhim. As for myself I am certainly al-Dajjal and it is near that an order will be passed for me to come out. I shall then come outand travel the world. I shall leave no village at which I shall not land within 40 nights except Mecca and Taibah, whichwill be forbidden to me. Whenever I wish to enter one of the two, an angel with a sword in his hand will encounter meand prevent me therefrom. There will be angels on every side to guard it."The apostle of Allah struck his pulpit with his staff and said, This is Taibah meaning Madinah. Behold! Did I not tell you?Yes they replied. Behold, he is in the Syrian sea or sea of Yemen; no, rather he is from the eastern direction. He thenpointed out with his hand towards the East. (Sahih Muslim, Book #041, Hadith #7028)7|Page
  8. 8. 1.7 The ‘Al-Dajjal’ Confusion :: IbnSayyadRelated Hadiths ::Abdullah reported: We were along with Allahs Messenger (may peace be upon him) that wehappened to pass by children amongst whom there was Ibnsayyad. The children made their way butIbnsayyad kept sitting there (and it seemed) as if Allahs Messenger (may peace be upon him) didnot like it (his sitting with the children) and said to him: May your nose he besmeared with dust, dont you bear testimony to the fact that I am the Messenger of Allah? Thereupon he said: No, butyou should bear testimony that I am the messenger of Allah. Thereupon Umar b. Khattab said:Allahs Messenger, permit me that I should kill him. Thereupon Allahs Messenger (may peace beupon him) said: If he is that person who is in your mind (Dajjal ), you will not be able to kill him. (Book #041, Hadith #6990)Abdullah reported: We were walking with Allahs Messenger (may peace be upon him) thatIbnsayyad happened to pass by him. Allahs Messenger (may peace be upon him) said to him: I haveconcealed for you (something to test you, so tell me that). He said: It is Dukh. Thereupon AllahsMessenger (may peace be upon him) said to him: Be off. You cannot get farther than your rank, whereupon Umar said: Allahs Messenger, permit me to strike his neck. Thereupon AllahsMessenger (may peace be upon him) said: Leave him; if he is that one (Dajjal) whom you apprehend, you will not be able to kill him. (Book #041, Hadith #6991)Abu Said reported that Allahs Messenger (may peace be upon him) met him (Ibnsayyad) and so didAbu Bakr and Umar on some of the roads of Medina. Allahs Messenger (may peace be upon him)said: Do you bear testimony to the fact that I am the Messenger of Allah? Thereupon he said: Doyou bear testimony to the fact that I am the messenger of Allah? Thereupon Allahs Messenger (maypeace be upon him) said: I affirm my faith in Allah and in His Angels and in His Books, and what doyou see? He said: I see the throne over water. Whereupon Allahs Messenger (may peace be uponhim) said: You see the throne of Iblis upon the water, and what else do you see? He said: I see twotruthfuls and a liar or two liars and one truthful. Thereupon Allahs Messenger (may peace be uponhim) said: Leave him He has been confounded. (Book #041, Hadith #6992)8|Page
  9. 9. 1.8 Prior to Emergence of al-Dajjal 1.8.1 Famine for 3 YearsA lengthy hadith narrated by IbnMajah, IbnKhuzaimah, and ad-Dhiyaa’, attributed to AbuUmamah, reports that the Prophet (saw) said:“There will be three hard years before the Dajjal(appears). During them, people will be stricken by a great famine. In the first year, Allah willcommand the sky to withhold a third of its rain, and the earth to withhold a third a third of itsproduce. In the second year, Allah will command the sky to withhold two thirds of its rain, and theearth to withhold two thirds of its produce. In the third year, Allah will command the sky to withholdall of its rain, and it will not rain a single drop of rain. He will command the earth to withhold all ofits produce, and no plant will grow. All hoofed animals will perish, except that which Allah wills.” He(sallallahu `alaihiwasallam) was asked, ‘What sustains people during that time?’ He said, “Tahlil, takbir and tahmid (Saying, la ilaha ill Allah, Allahu Akbar and alhamdulillah). This will sustain themjust as food does.” *Sahih Al-Jami` as-Saghir, no. 7875] 1.8.2 Frequent TribulationsAbdullah bin Umar narrated that the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu ‘alaihiwasallam, said :: “Thefitnah of Al-Ahlas(continuous calamity) is mass desertion and war. Then, the fitnah of As-Sarraa*meaning ‘the rich’, when some reach people use their money to hire others to fight for them+ willstart from under the feet of a man who claims that he is of me (of my descendants). However, he isnot of me, for my loyal friends are the ones who have taqwa. Afterwards, people will unite around aman whose reign is unstable. Then, the fitnah of Ad-Duhaymaa *it is called ‘dark and black fitnah’because of its enormity] (will start) and will not leave any member of this nation without severelytouching him. When it is thought that its time has come to an end, it will be lengthened. Meanwhile(during this fitnah), a man will wake up as a believer and will meet the night as a disbeliever, untilpeople divide into two camps: A camp of belief that contains no hypocrisy, and a camp of hypocrisythat contains no belief. If this happens, then await the Dajjal on that day or the next.” *Ahmad, AbuDawood and al-Hakim, Mishkatul-Masabih, vol. 4, no. 5403]9|Page
  10. 10. 1.9 Emergence of al-Dajjal  Battle of Arabian Peninsula  Battle for Persia  Battle for Byzantine  Battle against DajjalThe Prophet (saw) said, “The Dajjal will not emerge until people (in general) become oblivious anddo not mention him, and the Imams who deliver Khutbah will not mention him (Majm al-Zawaid,7/338)Nafi b. Utba reported: We were with Allahs Messenger (may peace be upon him) in an expeditionthat there came a people to Allahs Apostle (may peace be upon him) from the direction of the west. They were dressed in woollen clothes and they stood near a hillock and they met him as AllahsMessenger (may peace be upon him) was sitting. I said to myself: Better go to them and standbetween him and them that they may not attack him. Then I thought that perhaps there had beengoing on secret negotiation amongst them. I however, went to them and stood between them andhim and I remember four of the words (on that occasion) which I repeat (on the fingers of my hand)that he (Allahs Messenger) said: You will attack Arabia and Allah will enable you to conquer it, thenyou would attack Persia and He would make you to Conquer it. Then you would attack Rome andAllgLh will enable you to conquer it, then you would attack the dajjal and Allah will enable you toconquer him. Nafi said: Jabir, we thought that the dajjal would appear after Rome (Syrian territory)would be conquered. (Sahih Muslim, Book #041, Hadith #6930) 1.9.1 Announcement of al-DajjalAbu Huraira reported Allahs Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The Last Hour wouldnot come until the Romans would land at al-Amaq or in Dabiq. An army consisting of the best(soldiers) of the people of the earth at that time will come from Medina (to counteract them). Whenthey will arrange themselves in ranks, the Romans would say: Do not stand between us and those(Muslims) who took prisoners from amongst us. Let us fight with them; and the Muslims would say:Nay, by Allah, we would never get aside from you and from our brethren that you may fight them. They will then fight and a third (part) of the army would run away, whom Allah will never forgive. Athird (part of the army).which would be constituted of excellent martyrs in Allahs eye, would bekilled ani the third who would never be put to trial would win and they would be conquerors ofConstantinople. And as they would be busy in distributing the spoils of war (amongst themselves)after hanging their swords by the olive trees, the Satan would cry: The dajjal has taken your placeamong your family. They would then come out, but it would be of no avail. And when they wouldcome to Syria, he would come out while they would be still preparing themselves for battle drawingup the ranks. Certainly, the time of prayer shall come and then Jesus (peace be upon him) son ofMary would descend and would lead them in prayer. When the enemy of Allah would see him, itwould (disappear) just as the salt dissolves itself in water and if he (Jesus) were not to confront them10 | P a g e
  11. 11. at all, even then it would dissolve completely, but Allah would kill them by his hand and he wouldshow them their blood on his lance (the lance of Jesus Christ). (Sahih Muslim, Book #041, Hadith #6924)Abu Huraira reported Allahs Apostle (may peace he upon him) saying: You have heard about a citythe one side of which is in the land and the other is in the sea (Constantinople). They said: AllahsMessenger, yes. Thereupon he said: The Last Hour would not come unless seventy thousand personsfrom BanuIshaq(Al-Hijaz- Western region of Saudi Arabia that includes Mecca, Medina, and Jeddah) would attackit. When they would land there, they will neither fight with weapons nor would shower arrows butwould only say:" There is no god but Allah and Allah is the Greatest," that one side of it would fall.Thaur (one of the narrators) said: I think that he said: The part by the side of the ocean. Then theywould say for the second time:" There is no god but Allah and Allah is the Greatest" that the secondside would also fall, and they would say:" There is no god but Allah and Allah is the Greatest," thatthe gates would be opened for them and they would enter therein and, they would be collectingspoils of war and distributing them amongst themselves that a noise would be heard and It would besaid: Verily, Dajjal has come. And thus they would leave everything there and would turn to him. (Sahih Muslim, Book #041, Hadith #6979)The Prophet said, "The Hour will not come until the furthest border of the Muslims will be in Bula."Then he said, "O Ali!" Ali said, "May my father and mother be sacrificed for you!" The Prophet said,"You will fight the Romans, and those who come after you will fight them, until the best peopleamong the Muslims, the people of al-Hijaz, will go out to fight them, fearing nothing but Allah. Theywill conquer Constantinople with Tasbih and Takbir (saying "Subhan Allah" and "Allahu Akbar"), andthey will obtain booty the like of which has never been seen - they will share it out by scooping it upwith their sheilds. Someone will come and say, The Dajjal has appeared in your land, but he willbe lying. Anyone who takes notice of him will regret it, and anyone who ignores him will regret it."(IbnMajah.)Nafi reported that Ibn Umar met IbnSiid on some of the paths of Medina and he said to him aword which enraged him and he was so much swollen with anger that the way was blocked. IbnUmar went to Hafsa and informed her about this. Thereupon she said: May Allah have mercy uponyou, why did you incite IbnSayyad in spite of the fact that you knew it would be the extreme angerwhich would make dajjal appear in the world? (Sahih Muslim, Book #041, Hadith #7003)11 | P a g e
  12. 12. 1.9.2 Place of EmergenceAbu Bakr Al-Siddiq (R) narrated that The Prophet (saw) said: "The Dajjal emerges from a land in theEast called Khorasan(region that includes Northeastern part of Iran, Afghanistan, , parts of Pakistan,Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, etc.). He will be followed by people whose faces are like flattened shields."(Tirmidhi, Ahmad, IbnMaja, and Al-Haakim)12 | P a g e
  13. 13. 1.9.2.1 Allies of Dajjal"He will say to a Bedouin, What do you think if I bring your father and mother back to life for you? Will you bear witness that I am your lord? The Bedouin will say Yes, so two devils will assume theappearance of his father and mother, and will say, "O my son, follow him for he is your lord."(IbnMajah& al-Hakim)Anas b. Malik reported that Allahs Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: The Dajjal would befollowed by seventy thousand Jews of Isfahan wearing Persian shawls. (Sahih Muslim, Book #041,Hadith #7034)Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq (R) narrated that The Prophet (saw) said: "The Dajjal emerges from a land in theEast called Khorasan(region that includes Northeastern part of Iran, Afghanistan, , parts of Pakistan,Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, etc.). He will be followed by people whose faces are like flattened shields."(Tirmidhi, Ahmad, IbnMaja, and Al-Haakim)Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah beupon him) said: “The Dajjaalwill come to this pond in Marriqanaat – a valley in Madeenah – andmost of those who go out to him will be women, until a man will come to his mother in law, hismother, his daughter, his sister and his aunt, and will tie them up strongly for fear that they will goout to him.” (Narrated by Ahmad, no. 5099)13 | P a g e
  14. 14. 1.9.2.2 Enemies of DajjalAbu Huraira reported: There are some distinguishing features of BanuTamim which I heard fromAllahs Messenger (may peace be upon him) and my love for them is never on the decline after thatand the words are: They are the bravest amongst people in the battlefield and there is no mentionof (the word)" Dajjal". (Sahih Muslim, Book #031, Hadith #6134)Abdullah bin Masood(RA) reports from the Prophet(SAW), who said: “The world will not come topass until a man from among my family, whose name will be my name, rules over theArabs.”(Tirmidhi Sahih, Vol. 9, P. 74; Abu Dawud, Sahih, Vol. 5, P. 207; also narrated by Ali b.AbiTalib, Abu Said, Umm Salma, Abu Hurayra)Abu Hurairanarrated that Prophet Muhammad (saw) said: "While the Muslims will be busydistributing the spoils (booty) of war (resulting from conquering Constantinople), Satan would shout:The Dajjal (Anti-Christ) has taken your place among your family (or in your land). The Muslimswould then come out, but will find that it is not true. And when they arrive to Al-Sham (GreaterSyria), the Anti-Christ will come out. While they (Muslims) are preparing to fight him, and drawingup their ranks, prayer time will come and then, Jesus the son of Mary will descend and join them inprayer. When Allahs enemy (Anti-Christ) sees him (Jesus), it will dissolve just as the salt dissolves inwater. If Jesus were to leave him (Anti-Christ) alone, he (Anti-Christ) would melt to death anyway, but Allah will have him (Anti-Christ) killed by his (Jesus) hand, and he (Jesus) will show the Muslimshis (Anti-Christs) blood on his (Jesus) spear." 15. 15. 1.10 Fitnah of Dajjal 1.10.1 Heaven & HellHudhaifa (R) reported that Allahs Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: dajjal is blind of left eyewith thick hair and there would be a garden and fire with him and his fire would be a garden and hisgarden would be fire. (Sahih Muslim, Book #041, Hadith #7010) 1.10.2 Control over NatureUqba b. Amr Abu Masud al-Ansari reported: I went to Hudhaifa b. Yaman and said to him: Narratewhat you have heard from Allahs Messenger (may peace be upon him) pertaining to the dajjal. Hesaid that the dajjal would appear and there would be along with him water ant fire and what thepeople would see as water that would be fire and that would burn and what would appear as firethat would be water and any one of you who would see that should plunge in that which he sees asfire for it would be sweet, pure water, and Uqba said: I also heard it, testifying Hudhaifa. (SahihMuslim, Book #041, Hadith #7012) 1.10.3 Treasures of the EarthAn-Nawwas b. Saman reported that Allahs Messenger (may peace be upon him) made a mentionof the dajjal one day in the morning. He sometimes described him to be insignificant and sometimesdescribed (his turmoil) as very significant rand we felt) as if he were in the cluster of the date-palmtrees. When we went to him (to the Holy Prophet) in the evening and he read (the signs of fear) inour faces, he said: What is the matter with you? We said: Allahs Messenger, you made a mention ofthe dajjal in the morning (sometimes describing him) to be insignificant and sometimes veryimportant, until we began to think as if he were present in some (near) part of the cluster of thedatpalm trees. Thereupon he said: I harbour fear in regard to you in so many other things besidesthe dajjal. If he comes forth while I am among on, I shall contend with him on your behalf, but if hecomes forth while I am not amongst you, a man must contend on his own behalf and Allah wouldtake care of every Muslim on my behalf (and safeguard him against his evil). He (dajjal) would be ayoung man with twisted, contracted hair, and a blind eye. I compare him to Abd-ul-Uzza b. Qatan. He who amongst you would survive to see him should recite over him the opening verses ofSuraKahf (xviii.). He would appear on the way between Syria and Iraq and would spread mischiefright and left. O servant of Allah! adhere (to the path of Truth). We said: Allahs Messenger, howlong would he stay on the earth? He said.. For forty days, one day like a year and one day like amonth and one day like a week and the rest of the days would be like your days. We said: AllahsMessenger, would one days prayer suffice for the prayers of day equal to one year? Thereupon hesaid: No, but you must make an estimate of time (and then observe prayer). We said: AllahsMessenger, how quickly would he walk upon the earth? Thereupon he said: Like cloud driven by thewind. He would come to the people and invite them (to a wrong religion) and they would affirmtheir faith in him and respond to him. He would then give command to the sky and there would berainfall upon the earth and it would grow crops. Then in the evening, their posturing animals wouldcome to them with their humps very high and their udders full of milk and their flanks stretched. He15 | P a g e
  16. 16. would then come to another people and invite them. But they would reject him and he would goaway from them and there would be drought for them and nothing would be lef t with them in theform of wealth. He would then walk through the waste, land and say to it: Bring forth yourtreasures, and the treasures would come out and collect (themselves) before him like the swarm ofbees. He would then call a person brimming with youth and strike him with the sword and cut himinto two pieces and (make these pieces lie at a distance which is generally) between the archer andhis target. He would then call (that young man) and he will come forward laughing with his facegleaming (with happiness) and it would at this very time that Allah would send Christ, son of Mary, and he will descend at the white minaret in the eastern side of Damscus wearing two garmentslightly dyed with saffron and placing his hands on the wings of two Angels. When he would lower hishead, there would fall beads of perspiration from his head, and when he would raise it up, beads likepearls would scatter from it. Every non-believer who would smell the odour of his self would die andhis breath would reach as far as he would be able to see. He would then search for him (dajjal) untilhe would catch hold of him at the gate of Ludd and would kill him. Then a people whom Allah hadprotected would come to Jesus, son of Mary, and he would wipe their faces and would inform themof their ranks in Paradise and it would be under such conditions that Allah would reveal to Jesusthese words: I have brought forth from amongst My servants such people against whom none wouldbe able to fight; you take these people safely to Tur, and then Allah would send Gog and Magog andthey would swarm down from every slope. The first of them would pass the lake of Tibering anddrink out of it. And when the last of them would pass, he would say: There was once water there.Jesus and his companions would then be besieged here (at Tur, and they would be so much hardpressed) that the head of the ox would be dearer to them than one hundred dinirs and AllahsApostle, Jesus, and his companions would supplicate Allah, Who would send to them insects (whichwould attack their necks) and in the morning they would perish like one single person. AllahsApostle, Jesus, and his companions would then come down to the earth and they would not find inthe earth as much space as a single span which is not filled with their putrefaction and stench.Allahs Apostle, Jesus, and his companions would then again beseech Allah, Who would send birdswhose necks would be like those of bactrin camels and they would carry them and throw themwhere God would will. Then Allah would send rain which no house of clay or (the tent of) camelshairs would keep out and it would wash away the earth until it could appear to be a mirror. Then theearth would be told to bring forth its fruit and restore its blessing and, as a result thereof, therewould grow (such a big) pomegranate that a group of persons would be able to eat that, and seekshelter under its skin and milch cow would give so much milk that a whole party would be able todrink it. And the milch camel would give such (a large quantity of) milk that the whole tribe would beable to drink out of that and the milch sheep would give so much milk that the whole family wouldbe able to drink out of that and at that time Allah would send a pleasant wind which would soothe(people) even under their armpits, and would take the life of every Muslim and only the wickedwould survive who would commit adultery like asses and the Last Hour would come to them. 17. 17. 1.10.4 Brings Dead AliveNarrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: Allahs Apostle told us a long narrative about Ad-dajjal, and among themany things he mentioned, was his saying, "Ad-dajjal will come and it will be forbidden for him topass through the entrances of Medina. He will land in some of the salty barren areas (outside)Medina; on that day the best man or one of the best men will come up to him and say, I testify thatyou are the same dajjal whose description was given to us by Allahs Apostle . Ad-dajjal will say tothe people, If I kill this man and bring him back to life again, will you doubt my claim? They will say,No. Then Ad-dajjal will kill that man and bring him back to life. That man will say, Now I know yourreality better than before. Ad-dajjal will say, I want to kill him but I cannot. " (Sahih Muslim, Book#30, Hadith #106) 1.10.5 Revives Dead Parents"He will say to a Bedouin, What do you think if I bring your father and mother back to life for you? Will you bear witness that I am your lord? The Bedouin will say Yes, so two devils will assume theappearance of his father and mother, and will say, "O my son, follow him for he is your lord."(IbnMajah& al-Hakim)17 | P a g e
  18. 18. 1.11 Forbidden Place for al-DajjalProphet Mohammad (saw) said: "I warn you regarding the Messiah (the Dajjal). He will remain onEarth for 40 mornings. His dominion will reach everywhere. He will not come to 4 mosques: theKaba, the Messengers Mosque, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Tur." (Musnad Ahmad)Abu Huraira narrated that Allahs Messenger (saw) said: "The Dajjal will come from the direction ofthe East with the intention of attacking Medina until he camps behind Uhud (near Madina). Then, the angels (protecting Madina) will turn his face towards AsSham (Greater Syria) and there, he (theDajjal) will perish." (Sahih Muslim)1.12 Tenure &Death of Dajjal 1.12.1 40 DaysProphet (saw) said [part of Hadith]. Then, the angels (protecting Madina) will turn his face towards AsSham (Greater Syria) and there, he (theDajjal) will perish." (Sahih Muslim) 1.12.3 Isa (A) Kills DajjalAbu Hurairanarrated that Prophet Muhammad (saw) said: "While the Muslims will be busydistributing the spoils (booty) of war (resulting from conquering Constantinople), Satan would shout:The Dajjal (Anti-Christ) has taken your place among your family (or in your land). 19. 19. 1.13 Protection from al-Dajjal 1.13.1 Knowledge & ApplicationOne must uphold the Islamic way of life, and educate themselves about Allah. 1.13.2 Seeking Refuge in AllahSeeking refuge with Allah from the fitnah of the Dajjaal, especially in salaah (prayer). This has beennarrated in the saheehahaadeeth. Umm al-Mu’mineen ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), who said that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to pray in his salaah: “Allaahummainnia’oodhubika min ‘adhaab al-qabri, waa’oodhubika min fitnatil-maseehil-dajjaal, waa’oodhubika min fitnatil-mahyaawafitnatil-mamaat. Allaahummainnia’oodhubika min al-ma’thamwa’l- maghram (O Allaah, I seek refuge with You from the torment of the grave, I seek refuge with You from the fitnah of the Dajjaal, and I seek refuge with You from the trials of life and death. O Allaah, I seek refuge with You from sin and debt).” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 789) Muslim narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘When any one of you says Tashahhud, let him seek refuge with Allaah from four things, and say: “Allaahummainnia’oodhibika min ‘adhaabjahannamwa min ‘adhaab al-qabriwa min fitnatil- mahyaawa’l-mamaatwa min sharrifitnat al-maseeh al-dajjaal (O Allaah, I seek refuge with You from the torment of Hell, from the torment of the grave, from the trials of life and death, and from the evil of the fitnah of the Dajjaal).”’” (Narrated by Muslim, no. 924) 1.13.3 Surah al-KahfMemorizing aayaat from Soorat al-Kahf. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)commanded us to recite the opening verses of Soorat al-Kahf against the Dajjaal. According to somereports, the final verses of this soorah was mentioned. This means reciting the first ten verses or thelast ten. Among the ahaadeeth narrated concerning this was the lengthy hadeeth narrated byMuslim from al-NawwaasibnSam’aan, in which it says: “Whoever among you sees him (the Dajjaal), let him recite against him the opening verses of Soorat al-Kahf.” (Hadeeth 5228).Imam al-Nawawi (Rh) said, “The reason for this is because at the beginning of this Surah mention ismade of wonders and signs, whoever ponders them will not be decived by the fitnah of al-Dajjal.And at the end of this Surah, Allah says, “Then do those who disbelieve think that they can take My servants instead of Me as allies? Indeed, We have prepared Hell for the disbelievers as a lodging.” *Surah al-Kah 18, Ayat 102]19 | P a g e
  20. 20. 1.13.4 Face the TruthProphet (saw) said : “ Al Dajjal will say, “I am your God!”. Whoever responds by saying, “You arenot our God, Allah is our God and we depend upon Him and to Him we shall return and we seekrefuge with Him from you evil.” Al-Dajjal will have no power over that individual.” 1.13.5 Away from al-DajjalImaam Ahmad (19118), Abu Dawood (3762) and al-Haakim (4/31) narrated from ‘ImraanibnHusayn(may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:“Whoever hears of the Dajjaal, let him keep far away from him, for a man will come to him and thinkthat he is telling the truth because of the wonders that are sent with him.”20 | P a g e
