India has Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) infrastructures set up by cellular network providers. According to an IAMAI report on Mobile VAS in India, 2010, GSM holds dominant (80%) market share. Average revenue per user is lower in CDMA compared to GSM. The ARPU has been falling in India for both CDMA and GSM technologies. Increased competition and fall in minutes of usage are main causal factors for fall in revenue.
