According to a popular study by David Graddol (English Next), English is the most popular communication language amongst non native English speakers. According to the World Tourism Organisation, there were around 763 million international travellers (in 2004), but nearly three-quarters of visits involved visitors from a non-English-speaking country travelling to a non-English-speaking destination. It appears that English is the preferred language for communication used by non native English speakers.
